How to Save Money at VetUrgency
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My poor dog had been suffering from an ear infection while I had been on vacation, Upon arriving home and finding this out I immediately contacted my main vet who told me they were booked 2 weeks out! She told me that a great place to go for this was Vet Urgency since this wasn't ER emergency, but leaving an ear infection untreated is horrible. I made an appointment and the team here was quick and communicative with me. Even when their Vet had an emergency I got a call explaining everything and an instant reschedule! This place was fabulous! Staff is amazing, everything is clean, and so caring. The only down side, as to most medical things is the price. Not quite as expensive as the ER vet but not as cheap as the normal one I go to. 100% would go here again :)

I brought my dog to VetUrgency for ear irritation that developed into an ear infection. The staff and vet were very professional and provided him with excellent care. The day after our visit my dog is clearly feeling so much better, and I would highly recommend VetUrgency! This was our second visit to VetUrgency in the past two years, and both visits were for issues that were not “emergencies” but could not reasonably wait until a weekday since my dog was in pain. I am thankful to have this vet office less than an hour away from where we live.

We arrived late in the evening with our senior dog who was in extreme discomfort and we had no idea what to expect. I can't say enough good things about VetUrgency. Greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. The staff were all caring, compassionate, and thorough. They took the time to explain the different scenarios (diagnosis) and walked us through the treatment plan and pricing upfront. Thank you for taking care of our fur baby!

My vet didn’t have any times available to see my dog, and his hotspot was getting worse. It was a bit of a drive for me so I tried more local options first - but other clinics seemed to have hoops to jump through to get him seen. As soon as I called VetUrgency they put me at ease and got me in within a few hours of calling. They were gentle and friendly with my dog during the exam and explained everything really well. They gave me a clear expectation of the cost range, and if there were any factors that could potentially raise the cost range. I have very clear instructions on how to care for him at home. For the area, their costs were reasonable. Overall, I’m grateful for their care and professionalism.

I cannot recommend this facility enough! We took our dog on a walk in visit to receive care for a cracked nail on a Saturday. Our dog is very anxious and the staff gave us some water to help counteract all of his nervous panting. The staff were incredibly kind, patient, smart, and professional. It was obvious that they are true animal lovers. The staff explained every cost and every step of the procedure. They gave our dog exceptional care and were able to keep the quick of our dog’s nail intact. The after care instructions are thorough and helpful. Despite the stress and fear that came with our dog going under anesthesia, we felt calm because they were calm. On the drive home we agreed that those were some of the nicest people we’d met. Thank you all for helping Mickey!
