How to Save Money at Kingsbrook Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have owned many cats and dogs in my 73 yrs and gone to many different veterinary clinics in different areas of the country. I can say with all certainty that Kingsbrook Animal Hospital in Frederick is at the top of the list of every one of them. Exceptionally friendly and caring staff from the front office to the vet techs and doctors. You can feel how much they love and enjoy working with animals the minute you walk through the doors. Kingsbrook is efficient when scheduling appointments and I’ve never experienced long wait times or felt rushed when discussing my pet concerns. They are up front with the various costs you can expect from different tests, procedures supplies and services. You are consulted but never pushed into what action of care you decide for your pet. They are well connected with other veterinary experts in the area. Everyone is knowledgeable, professional and a team player. In my opinion, the expertise from every veterinarian and vet technician there is unparalleled. I totally trust and truly appreciate everyone ant Kingsbrook!

This was our first visit to Kingsbrook. I had heard good things about it and was dissatisfied with the clinic he had been using. First, the staff was friendly and efficient and made us feel welcome. Secondly, the waiting room was bright and cheerful and very clean. 3rd, I was really pleased with the way the vet interacted with our dog. She got down on the floor to examine Chance and really took her time with him. I was very pleased with the whole visit.

Kingsbrook is definitely my favorite Animal Hospital/Clinic I’ve used in over 45 years of being a pet owner. Every person I’ve met there is so friendly and it’s obvious they are all animal lovers. I’ve seen three vets at Kingsbrook and all were excellent. You will not be disappointed at Kingsbrook. I wholeheartedly recommend Kingsbrook. Your pet will be treated with the best of care in a loving fear-free environment. One thing that is key for us is that they understand and even cater to reactive dogs. They know, and welcome, me bringing my dogs through the back door, as a precaution for them not seeing other dogs. Both of our dogs that were patients of Kingsbrook, were/are anxious, reactive, strong enough to pull me over on the leash. Using the back door approach helps them and me. I know I don’t have to be nervous about something unfortunate happening, even if it’s only scaring my dog. They also have at least one calming room. It has icalm music playing. It’s music crewted just for dogs. There is also a pheromone diffuser plugged into the wall and another freestanding. I think it really helped Yadi with his anxiety. Dr. Jeremy Brietenger so lovingly and proficiently treated our last dog, Sadie, for a few years before she has to be put to sleep. She had lymphoma and anal gland cancer. Dr. B worked with an oncology clinic to make her life the best it could be. And Sadie loved him and going to the vet’s office. On her last day, they brought her into a dimly lit room, with a candle, and a comfy bed for her to lay on. She loved every person at Kingsbrook and was perfectly at ease, being her silly self. THEN, they brought in a plate of warm, freshly cooked bacon. Blake was kind enough to get her a second helping. She was in heaven. After a lot of loves and excited playing, she layed on her bed and was kindly administered the drugs. It absolutely changed our day, as difficult as it was, to see her so incredibly happy. We will always treasure that memory and the kindness and love they offered when we were so incredibly sad. We mostly laughed rather than cried. This special time was all about Sadie, just the way she liked it. We rehomed/rescued another dog, Yadi, eight months ago. All the techs and Dr. B were so happy to meet Yadi and see me again. For his first few vet visits, we took him to the vet he’d been going to before we adopted him. He was so frightened and stayed glued to my side the entire time. This made it very difficult for them to treat him. He would barely allow them to touch him. After those visits, with lackluster care, we decided to take him to Kingsbrook. All the techs and Dr. B were so excited to meet Yadi and Dr. B seemed really happy to see me again and be introduced to Yadi. Yadi walked right in, curious but not afraid. He and the techs hit it off immediately, as did he and Dr. B. He was a little standoffish but he wasn’t scared. I have faith that with another visit or two, Yadi will be asking for pets and possibly giving kisses! Again, if your looking for a veterinarian, Kingsbrook is a great choice!
