How to Save Money at Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I am always so thankful with the way the vets and staff treat my kitties. I have been taking all three of my rescues here and they do such an incredible job. You can tell the best interest is always in there hearts. They’re not out for a “quick buck”. The staff is so gentle and loving. You can tell each employee is such a devoted animal lover!! I will continue to bring my fur babies here for the rest of their lives!

I am the delegating nurse at Sunrise Senior Living of Annapolis for over 12years. As part of our mission for caring for the elderly has included love, friendship, and a passion for service. We believe in giving a life and home to those unable to live their live, in their home, as we all expect to be able to do. We try to offer a home with friends, catering and yes sometimes medical. In trying to make a home all Sunrise's have a dog and a cat. In those 12 years Greater Annapolis has cared for all of our extended family. 6 dogs and 3 cats (3 and 2 of them during my tenure) Greater Annapolis has cared for our furry family with respect and caring, including our last visit for dental and a bit of cosmetic care. All of our pets are rescues and often need love, medical care & also to say goodbye. (imagine the inconvenience of a rotation of staff and then having over 12 people in an exam room gathered on the floor all holding a paw. They have never been too busy to fit us in for an appointment and as a healthcare provider we have never called in to question a diagnosis, treatment or plan of care. (as a nurse I question doctors ALL the time). Thank You Greater Annapolis from Sunrise Annapolis

Always great care for our two dogs and cat. Knowledgeable and friendly staff clearly love animals and are passionate about their care. We've also boarded the dogs there before for vacations and it's always been a good experience.

Our Yorkie Sammy has been suffering from recurring ear infections, so my local Vet advised that we seek support from a specialist, specifically a Veterinarian Dermatologist. After some research I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Woodburn at GAVH. The day after my local Vet sent my pets medical records to GAVH, I received a phone call from Dr. Woodburn. Dr. Woodburn then proceeded to spend an hour on the phone with me discussing my pet symptoms, possible causes and treatments. We have some great Vets at my local clinic, but this level of support was truly outstanding. Yesterday, Sammy, his older sister and I made the 2-hour drive to the clinic. The staff was great, and Sammy seemed to make some new friends. Dr. Woodburn examined Sammy and continued the treatment that my local Vet had started. If you live in Annapolis, or every need a specialist, you cannot go wrong with GAVH and Dr. Woodburn. The headband started out as a bandana, but Sammy decided to make some changes on all his own.

Always professional and due to the adequate staff, you can get appointments when you need one. I am happy that when you have to leave your pet overnight, that there is someone there. I have used them for 16 years and am happy to send my dog training clients there.
