How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Banfield is the worst. You think you're receiving the best service until your dog is dead. This place and the veterinarian are great, but customer service to just cancel your insurance is awful. I called customer service and told them to terminate my insurance seven months ago because my dog died. They kept taking my money and I kept paying for pet bill insurance for my dog that had been dead for seven months. Yes, I understand it's a payment plan, however, for a person that's still mourning the death of their dog, Banfield should have the decency to inform us that we will get charged again if we don't call for a second termination to cancel our dead dog's insurance. Why do I need to call a second time to terminate my deceased pet's insurance, when I called the first time to terminate the insurance? My dog has been dead for more than seven months, he's not coming back to life, so why do I need to call for a second termination? Were you hoping for my dog to come back to life? The representative on the phone still charged me and didn't even bother to reimburse me. They show no remorse; they just want to take your money. I will never use Banfield nor will I ever let any of my family members use Banfield again.

My Yorkie has been on the preferred care plan for almost 9 years now. Spreading out the cost for her care has been more manageable with the plan. The staff at reception are very helpful in making appointments especially if there is an emergency. I have seen all the veterinarians at this location and feel the quality of care is high. When my family has had to use their euthanasia service for our 3 elder cats dying of kidney failure, the doctors and staff are very kind and comforting.

Zero stars for this location- they refuse to make our 14 year old dog comfortable and require us to pay out of pocket for an Xray for treatment, we pay for the Banfield insurance plan and Xray still runs $400+. Our dog was evaluated twice by this vet office in recent weeks and diagnosed with what they believe is an infective respiratory illness that he had been vaccinated for and he continues to have airway issues a few days into his second round of antibiotics - audible wheezing, nonstop coughing, and difficulty breathing. We called the office multiple times asking if he could be prescribed something to help with his symptoms and were told not until he has an Xray. When asked to schedule a visit to discuss this urgent matter with the vet were offered an appointment 3 days later. Our dog CAN'T breath and seems so uncomfortable! These are their solutions- Do not take your pet here! Medical decision making is a personal decision and we have a right to choose the diagnostic measures within our means and are disgusted with the refusal to provide alternative options when we choose to make our pet comfortable!

I’ve been coming here since 2014, I have a 4lb yorkie, the service was great up until Covid. Now, they are always booked and they won’t pickup the phone to schedule appointments. I called them all day and got no answer so I walked into the store and saw for myself, employees are chatting and ignoring the phone. I ask them if the phone works and call them at the same time, well apparently the ringer is off and the woman says you have to leave a message and they will call you back. They don’t call you back and why won’t someone pick up the phone instead of chatting with your coworker. Unbelievable and really frustrating.

Techs were SUPER SWEET to my baby girl Pepper during her visit to have her teeth cleaned. She was really scared because it was her first time there, and they took the time to ensure she was warm, and let her know that she was safe with them. I’ll forever be grateful! The tech was even sweet enough to send me pics since I couldn’t be there with my baby. So considerate of them! I’m beyond happy!🥰
