How to Save Money at Taunton Cat Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Lauren and Dr. Fitzgerald were great. I have a very anxious cat, who has never had medical care. There was no shame or belittling they were happy to just start her care and come up with a plan to make sure she is healthy. The exam rooms and waiting areas are designed to keep your cat at ease. Although the care was pricey- it was a thorough visit and I was consented and informed of prices, risks and benefits before proceeding with any treatment. Padmè got free snacks the entire time and they kept her very comfortable, and did only what she allowed! Thank you 💗

I would recommend this vet! Unfortunately, my boy was 13 years old and very sick. I had brought him to Swansea ER vet twice previously within the prior 2 weeks. They essentially gave him a very grim diagnosis, but wanted more tests to the tune of $3k. When I took him to Taunton, he was critically ill, they agreed that it was his time. No BS, no additional tests, or more $, was going to change that. As sad as this was for us, they were honest and compassionate to both myself and my dying cat. They took care of everything. They even sent us card after with messages from the entire staff and his paw print. I will absolutely bring my next kitty there from day one. I'm not there yet, but they will 100% be my vet when I am.

I've been bringing my cats to Taunton Cat Hospital for 30+ years. It was great when Donna was there. It's horrible now. I have a very old cat who's been sick for close to a year. She has had numerous expensive tests and prescribed several medications, none of which did anything to help her. But, that's not really the issue. I've had many appointments with my cat. Every time I bring her in, I get a new tech (they call themselves nurses now!), who asks me about the cat's history. It's in the chart!!! Why do I have to reiterate everything, every time I have a new appointment? I made the TECH look it up last time. So, now, my poor baby is getting worse and I think the best thing for her is to be put to sleep. I called and was given two very short-notice appointments (one this afternoon, and one tomorrow morning). I couldn't do either one of those and I asked for the next week. I was told the next appointment available was October. OCTOBER!!! seriously?!! I am DONE, DONE, DONE with this vet. I honestly think I've hung on so long because of how much I loved it when Donna was there, and made myself believe it was still the best... it's not. Also, because it is close to my house. But, no more, I will find a new place.

Extremely caring and thorough office! My cat has never done great with vets in the past but has no problems and is super friendly here! They always take the time to answer all my questions, appointments never feel rushed and they always are able to see my Kitty in a timely manner. Calls to check in, can’t thank them enough!

The staff here is amazing! Have been here for years with many different cats. Was in recently to put down my 14 year old cat Olivia. They made an incredibly painful and emotionally difficult process so much more comfortable. Will always recommend everyone bring their cats here.
