How to Save Money at East Mill Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Wonderful animal hospital! We brought our old English bulldog here for the first time & both the vet tech and then the Veterinarian spent more time with her than any vet visit we’ve ever had anywhere! They even sat on the floor with our dog, patting her & getting to know her. They were very thorough in their questions and approach, and answered all of our questions with ease. Very friendly staff and it is evident they care greatly about pets, we were there a while and never once felt rushed. I recommend this animal hospital if you want a smart and caring veterinarian team !

If you want the very best team for your pet, THIS IS IT! From the moment I walked in, I knew Daisy was in excellent hands. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a genuine love for animals evident in every interaction. The level of attention to detail is remarkable. They take the time to listen attentively to concerns, explain treatments thoroughly, and always ensure both me and Daisy feel comfortable and cared for. Thank you Michele, Paige, and Dr. O'Dell.

I cannot say enough about East Mill Animal Hospital and the staff-they are all simply AMAZING!! Dr. Susan O’Dell, Michelle and Paige are the best vet team for my dog Sadie. During the entire process of Sadie’s dental they were all attentive, caring and answered all my questions and concerns. Since I live down the street from East Mill, Sadie and I stop in almost daily just to say hi and get a little treat (and to show Sadie that the vet can also be a happy place!) I highly recommend Dr. O’Dell and can’t imagine going anywhere else for Sadie’s care!

There are not enough words to express our gratitude for East Mill Animal Hospital. Dr. O'Dell and Michelle went above and beyond the call of duty in putting down our beloved 15 1/2 yr. old dachshund, Simon after hours on a Friday. Unfortunately, we had both tested positive for Covid so they kept their doors open after hours for us and treated Simon and us with such incredible empathy, compassion, gentleness and understanding during this very sad time. We will never forget their kindness and professionalism. Our other pets, Rascal and Phoebe, have also received great care there. We cannot recommend them highly enough! East Mill Animal Hospital is one of the best businesses in North Andover.

Tater had the pleasure of being seen @EastMillAnimalHospital today. Dr. Susan Odell is a wonderful vet! Michele, Susan and their team are providing a wonderful service to the community by caring for everyone’s fur babies and providing excellent veterinary services. I appreciate that they don’t try to nickel and dime you with services that are not necessary. The facility is equipped with state of the art technology in a beautiful Mill setting. It’s a great place to walk around and explore as well with a dog patio @TavernOnTheHigh. A great place to grab an early dinner after your pup has been seen. Do yourself a favor and check out the facility you will LOVE it! Pictured from left to right Paige, Dr. Susan O’Dell, Michele Smith and Tater.
