How to Save Money at METROVET Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We've been going to Metrovet for about a year now and have been so impressed with the care Dr. Temple and her team takes at every visit!! Our dog comes in regularly (at least every 3 months) and has a few health issues that have required more than your average check-up. Our dog gets nervous during vet visits, but Dr. Temple and her team are so gentle and caring with her. They always take as much time as is needed to make our dog comfortable and to talk things through with us humans! And the clean, organize, and modern office is icing on the cake!! I'm so happy Dr. Temple and Metrovet is in the neighborhood and I highly recommend them!

Dr. Henry and her team were amazing. Our little cat was very nervous and they made it a better experience that we’ve ever had with any vet. Would a hundred percent recommend it! (:

Dr. Temple and her team are the best! I’m new to Boston and was yet to establish care for my dog Bentley before he started having problems with his teeth. Dr. Temple made sure I had all the information I needed to feel comfortable moving forward with a complete dental removal, as Bentley has a heart murmur. The office is clean, modern, & her staff is always friendly. On top of all this prior to visiting Bentley had a medical emergency. I called her office to see if they handled emergency visits, they don’t but gave me a great referral as to where I could take him until his appointment which was so helpful!!

Just had an incredible first visit - this is what every vet practice should be like. We arrived 15 minutes early, and were met by a friendly receptionist. The waiting area was clean and included a beautiful outdoor area, but we didn't get to use it because they were able to see us early. The exam room (pictured) had natural light and didn't feel clinical. The tech was excellent and took her time getting to know my dog. I really can't say enough good things about Dr. Henry. She conducted the whole exam on the floor to keep my anxious boy relaxed. He's nervous around people, but he took to her immediately. The tech even checked us out right in the exam room, which I thought was a nice touch. It was such a positive experience that I'm already looking forward to our next visit.

I made a very last minute appointment for a neuter consult and they were able to squeeze me in for a surgery just a few days later (unheard of and amazing). They walked me through the price breakdown for the surgery and explained everything that they were planning on doing. Everyone at Metrovet was (and is) very personable, caring, and quick to respond. I felt safe having my dog in their hands which is a big compliment for a helicopter dog mom like myself. One of the vets also made an effort to connect with my dog beforehand, and I was so relieved to see my dog gravitate towards him on the day of his surgery. The facility is very clean and overall a top option in all of Massachusetts in my opinion. Their price is fair; you get what you pay for and when it comes to your dog's surgery and well being... you should care about the quality. I would recommend Metrovet to everyone, I drove over an hour each way just to go here because that is how great they are.
