How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
After being referred to several different vets for my dog's severe GI issues, a specialist urged us to arrange a surgery for our dog at BluePearl. We were hesitant (we had never been to BluePearl before and it was pretty far from where we lived), but after going through with the procedure, I see why our vet had so much confidence in them. Dr. Cleveland did a fantastic job putting us at ease pre-op and, called post-op to let us know how things went, and was great at answering all of our questions along the way. As an added plus, the overnight nurse sent an update and pictures of our dog to us which, after a long day of stressing about him, was much appreciated. The price was definitely (very) steep, but with the surgery and all of the care that he received, I'm sure it would've been a similar price at any other animal hospital.

BluePearl, there is a lot I can say about the team of individuals that make this place awesome; from the doorman to the person in charge, they always make me, my wife, feel at ease with all of my dog and battle buddy Cooter’s care, they are an exceptional part of the care team that I choose to take care of my dogs’ health; if you have never been there, try it you will see what I mean. Thank you, BluePearl, for being there for us all

My husband and I took our dog here after hours because our vet was closed. Our dog was not himself - not eating, barely walking, drinking an excessive amount of water and I knew something was not right. My husband and I took our sweet boy here and about an hour and $600 later, they said they didn't see anything alarming and sent us off with gabapentin. 2 days later, we had to take our dog to an emergency vet hospital in NH (they were incredible) because we were in Maine and sadly he passed away. I would pay any amount of money to have my dog cared for. I just don't understand how the team didn't catch him being sick and just let us go and have my little guy suffer like he did. I'm beyond disappointed and completely heartbroken over the loss of my dog, life has not been the same since his passing.

Doctor who updated me was really nice and showed genuine interest in my concerns. Also the receptionist, Jessica, was an absolute delight! So sweet and accommodating. She is a great asset to your team.

Brought our Doberman in for a laceration she got from a metal fence. They took great care for her and stitched her up. When we went back to pick her up after two hours the vet said she was laying with our dog in the crate until we arrived. Maybe it was a quiet time of day and there was some time to cuddle, or maybe the vet just sensed our dog was full of love but needed some extra. Either way, we appreciate the care.
