How to Save Money at Pet Emergency Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot praise this clinic enough! We woke up one morning a few weeks ago & our ferret was screaming & stuck in a bent position… for hours she suffered as we called every vet in our area who politely stated they didn’t treat ferrets & refused to do anything for us. We called Pet Emergency Clinic, which mind you is an hour away from where I live… in an entirely different state. They quickly agreed to see our ferret & was very honest that ferrets were not their specialty however they’d do everything they could. We drove quickly from Texas and arrived at almost midnight. Upon arrival, the staff was extremely friendly, caring & respectful of our feelings. Although we did have to put our ferret to sleep, the staff here gave us so much peace while every other clinic turned us away. We are forever grateful for this clinic & their employees for helping to stop our sweet girl from suffering any longer. Not to mention today we received this very heartfelt sympathy card signed by all of the employees! I would 10 out of 10 recommend this clinic. Thank you again!

I cannot say enough about this Vet and staff. We drove from Dayton Tx to the Beaumont ER where they just left our dog in a kennel for 1.5 hours struggling to have a puppy. We left there when we found out what was going on and drive to Lake Charles which was the closest vet from where we were. As soon as we got there they had her x rayed and the stuck-now dead puppy (because of the other ER) turned and delivered within 10 mins. They checked to see if the other puppies were alive which they were and kept her there to make sure everything else went ok and to keep an eye on the distressed puppies for a bit. Hands down the best ER Vet we have ever used! Highly Recommend taking your fur babies here 100 ⭐️’s

I am new to Lake Charles and needed an emergency care facility for Roxi last weekend. All the vet techs and Dr's are top notch. I cannot say enough about the care they provided. My lab is more than a pet, she is my daughter, partner in crime, therapist, and my best friend. The Lord blessed me with finding Pet Emergency Clinic. PEC was instrumental in diagnosing an extremly large tumor that developed and started bleeding. After their recommendation of a vet, I took Roxi there and she was rushed to emergency surgery for a bleeding tumor that was attached to her spleen that was about to rupture. In my eyes they saved my daughters life. This review can never express the gratitude that I have for everyone who works at PEC for their attention to detail and the professionalism that they displayed during her 3 night stay. Thank you is not enough. Sweet Treats coming your way. Martin & Roxi Shampo

I can't say enough wonderful things about this clinic, their vets, and support staff. The day we arrived they were jammed pack- 25 animals (someone's baby) in the back and a waiting room full. My baby was seen quickly and we were treated with compassion. The veterinarian was so sweet, gave me a hug, explained in detail everything going on, and made sure I understood care instructions before we left. My sweet baby is not crate trained and HATES the vet, but they cared for him with such compassion and made sure he had the proper resources for them to work effectively on him. I cannot thank this clinic enough for everything they did for us and our baby. It takes a special, wonderful kind of person to this job, and this clinic is blessed with some of the best. Thank you Pet Emergency Clinic.

I'm utterly grateful for this veterinarian and people like her who knows how loved our pets are and just how important they are to us. Tuby swallowed a lot of water and sand at beach there for his first time and got sick fast and bad. I am so grateful that we have these resources and options because my little dog was returned to me well and whole the next morning. You can tell this vet loves her patients. Thanks again PEC!! ❤️
