How to Save Money at Highland Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Great prices and wonderful staff! We took a puppy in that we had rescued and everyone was very knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be going back

*7/15/23 STOP SAYING YOU HAVE AFTER HOURS SERVICES IF YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO ANSWER THE CALL. Please do not think I will let this go or quit sharing our story. This is a theme I’ve heard from other customers as well. Mochi made a full recovery. He is perfectly healthy and playful now. No thanks to highlands who was going to leave him to die without seeing him. Thank you, country side vet located in oil springs. ***6/25/23*** A update on the kitten your vet said was “too late” to save. With the help of countryside veterinarian, our little boy is recovering and expected to make FULL RECOVERY. He is eating and playing! Yes, he was a rescue and a young kitten but he deserves life just as much as the next pet!! No thanks to this vet! I would recommend countryside, if you want someone who actually cares!! Wouldn’t help us with a kitten because he said it’s too late and it would cost 200-300 (like we wouldn’t pay it) and then hung up on us. The kitten is stable and this guy is a piece of work. Disgusting. You should be Ashamed of yourself. No one else we spoke at other places about trying to save this kitten was rude. They knew it was a crisis/urgent situation!Especially for someone who is suppose to be on call?? I hope someone tells you it’s too late when you try to save a loved one and hangs up on you.

Called the emergency hotline despite hearing people’s terrible experiences here because it’s the only one around my dog who has had a “upset stomach “ before has been sick and vomiting all day and I’ve just waited for it to pass watching her making sure she stays hydrated and all was well until she threw up large amounts of blood and won’t hold her own head up or keep her eyes open. I call seeing if I can get any advice or help with what to do and the woman tells me it’s not an emergency she just has an upset stomach to give her pepto. I tell her “‘ she’s not keeping her eyes open and her eyes keep rolling back into her head” and she responds with “so she’s resting” I don’t advise anyone to take their animals here the woman was a complete bitty and showed zero concern. “I would have to charge you a emergency vet fee and I don’t feel that it’s necessary “ she says the woman’s name was Pam 10/10 worst experience I’ve ever had with someone

Very nice. I was a walk in, totally unexpected and they graciously accommodated my dog. Definitely will go back(with an appointment, lol) in the future.

Had my fur babies teeth cleaned and 5 removed. When I picked her up they explained the procedure that had been done and explained everything that I needed to do at home to continue her care. All in all it was a great experience even though to this day she still shakes like a leaf when we go in the place. ..lol
