How to Save Money at LIVS
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Brown and her entire incredibly caring crew. My little Gouda started having issues with UTI (that lead to a blockage and emergency surgery), Vestibular Syndrome, Heart Disease, and ulcers on his lips all within the span of two months. Thankfully, he hasn’t had any UTIs and the vestibular syndrome resolved itself, but the ulcers stayed and got worse. Went to another vet who said he would have this epithelial granuloma forever if changing his water and food bowls to stainless steel and if this allergy exposure therapy didn’t work. Eight months later and there was no change…things got worse. The other vets shrugged their shoulders and said sorry. The moment I walked into LIVs, was the moment I had hope we could heal him or at the least get better. A year and a few months later, He hasn’t had a UTI and his lips are not ulcers anymore. His energy is much better, he runs around like a mad man, and no longer attacks our dog out of pain. Plus, they’re very good with trying to make every visit the least stressful they can. Lifelong client for sure. First picture was at his worst.

I’m particular about vets and it took a long time to find someone who would work with me and listen to my careful observations. Dr. Brown and her entire staff go above and beyond the call and are wonderful with all of my cats-even those whom other vets couldn’t work with without drugging. I’m delighted with the integrative care my cats get at LIVS and I highly recommend this practice.

Dr Brown was amazing when our young cat was strangely injured. It took some work to figure it what was wrong. She was so helpful and kind. She also recently started seeing my older dog. It was a great experience. I love that she uses homeopathic medicine.

Love this place !!! Doctor Brown and staff are so wonderful. I have a feline aids cat that I had taken to see Doctor Brown @ LIVS in Louisville, Ky. He was on antibiotics Continuously from the modern veterinarian and it wasn't working so well for him. Realistically I knew he couldn't stay on antibiotics long term like he was doing. Doctor Brown at (LIVS) in Louisville, Ky. put him on a holistic medication that is all natural and not harmful to him and he is doing so much better now. Dr Brown has been a god send for us. No more antibiotics for my baby. There pricing is comparable to traditional veterinarian prices if not cheaper. Anyone that's looking for a great all natural veterinarian in the Kentucky area this is a wonderful vet clinic. I drive from Richmond, Kentucky to Louisville, Ky so that my cat can get the best and safest care need for his survival.

Dr. Brown is the best for holistic pet care in Louisville. My pup is now happy and healthy at almost 13 and we've avoided many surgeries and toxic medications thanks to Dr. Brown's care. The clinic and staff are wonderful as well.
