How to Save Money at MedVet Lexington
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
When I walked into MedVet, my sweet fur babe Lola had already passed away. Leila greeted me promptly and shared compassion for my obvious hurt/grief. They cleaned my baby up(she was hit by a car) and wrapped her in a blanket and laid her head on a pillow and allowed our family plenty of time to say our goodbyes. What really meant the world to me is that today I walk to get my mail and they had hand written a card expressing how sorry each of them were for my loss. It’s things like this that the world needs more of! Thank you to MedVet for being good to me in a time of deep sorrow.

My dog was cut pretty bad while at the groomers so I had to bring her here that night after she was not properly treated at the Petsmart hospital. The staff was amazing and walked us through every step of the process. We did have to wait a short time, but not very long at all. If I ever need anything else I will definitely come back here.

This is a copy paste from my Yelp review so have more people be aware of this scam company, keep in mind staff and doctors are not the issue, as owners clearly have an interest in overcharging desperate pet owners. Review: Brought our cat in after he swallowed a string, they charged us $770, and wanted around 3000 to watch him over 24 hours. Ended up doing a follow up a day later at our home vet who only charged us $63 for an x-ray follow up (stating that their emergency department and general only charge $170 for a new request for X-rays) for only a total of $148. This place is taking advantage of desperate pet owners and charging them more than necessary. The doctors and staff were great, but the owners clearly only have an interest in making money off desperate individuals. Do not, and I mean, do not take your pets here unless you plan to take out a loan. It you truly read any of your reviews, do not bother leaving a reply, as clearly you all have a history of up charging your customers. Take the several complaints and do something about it. Edit: as of their reply, emergency services cost more of course, but at the vet I ended up going to the only extra charge they gave was the $50 more for the emergency fee compared to their $150. X-rays and other procedures are standard rates for both emergency and general. Disregard their clear excuse. There is a reason this vet is reviewed as one of the lowest in the area.

MedVet was extremely compassionate, fast-acting, and comforting when we came in for an emergency vet visit. They made our difficult visit there as painless as they could. The veterinarian who helped us, Dr. Stacy, was so kind, competent, and understanding.

Loki very suddenly was putting no weight in his back leg this past Sunday and was drooling everywhere and was clearly in a lot of pain. The receptionists are very attentive and friendly, and so are the techs that we saw. Dr Bryan was wonderful and my shih tzu even hobbled over to greet him and give a tail wag. We were there for a while but he was the only vet there that day and several other cases were critical - they still paid attention to us and made sure he was stable. Cleaned up his puke, got us a blanket. Wonderful people. Sent us on our way feeling better with meds and Dr Bryan called the next day to check on Loki. It's very nice to know that there's such a wonderful locations for emergencies nearby. He's feeling much better! They do accept pet insurance as well
