How to Save Money at Urgent Pet Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Took phenomenal care of my best buddy even despite being in the middle of other emergency cases and working as the only open ER in a 2 hour radius… He was treated and on the way back home in no time. Even as an absentee owner approving treatment from a state away was very easy and quick communication. I am forever grateful to the quick care, professional expertise and Django is already feeling much better today… thank you so much UPC Team. 💗I don’t know what I would have done had you all not been open!

The staff here are kindest most compassionate team I've ever known! I took my cat in and unfortunately had to put him down. It was heartbreaking to say the least but every single person on this team went out of their way for me and my little guy! I will never forget it. Thank you for all you do 🖤🤍🖤🤍

I brought my baby here yesterday 20 year old kitty cat I literally grew up with, his health was failing and it was time to say goodby. I was a mess and didn't get anyone's names but the lady who checked me in, a young blonde woman and the woman who assisted in the euthanasia process a young woman with dark hair and glasses were the absolute best. So very kind and understanding and compassionate. If I ever need vet services again I'll be back for sure. Also it didn't smell or look like a normal vets office, very clean and chic looking, spacious and private rooms with nice couches to sit and cuddle with your baby. They even brought him to me wrapped in a fluffy blanket. Thank you for all your help.

The place is very bougie, nice & clean facility. I don't like the outcome or the fact that I didn't have any other option than spending thousands of dollars or losing my baby. But that's not their fault I don't believe. Very caring and gave me as much time as I wanted to be with my baby before I had to put her to sleep.

I came here because my regular vet couldn't get us in until next week and I couldn't wait that long. Everyone we interacted with was so kind. Dr. Hellman was very honest about the state of my pet's condition and I appreciated it because it helped me to make the hard decision to take him home and schedule an in home euthansia appointment because of how advanced his kidney disease had become. The tech, I think her name was Kelli? Was so amazing and educational about everything that was going on, and let me hang out with Cooper in the exam room while he got some fluids before we left instead of leaving him in the kennel, which I was so grateful for. It honestly was not much more price wise than what I'd been paying at my regular vet's office and it was worth it to get an answer on how to help my pet best. The team was very straightforward about pricing and necessary procedures. I am grateful for the transparency and honesty, and most of all, the kindness everyone showed me and Coop during what ended up being our final night together. It wasn't the news we were hoping for, but grateful nonetheless that this place exists.
