How to Save Money at Prairie Ridge Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I absolutely love my cat and have had her since I was a young girl. We have been through so much together. She had some problems and I was completely scared. I get very emotional about my meower. Since she is a senior - I took her in and they were very quick to respond and help us. We got answers and help. I always worry about vet pricing and was very pleasantly surprised that the prices were awesome. I was able to pay out of pocket. I got her rabies updated, exam, and blood pressure check for only $158. They do offer care credit though if you are looking for a vet and not sure on price! I like answers prior so to those reading the review hope that helps! They just have a $50 deposit for new clients. Super great. My grandma cat does not like anyone holding her (took my husband 2 years for her to let him) and the vet tech was gentle with her and the old lady didn't mind at all! I was happy about that and pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much for helping in her care! Words can't express my gratitude. I was so nervous going in and went out with what I needed. Will continue to take her here

Could not have asked for a better experience than what we had today. My fiance and I had to make the awful decision to euthanize our 1 year old kitten due to severe cancer. Prairie Ridge staff were absolutely incredible through the process. They allowed us to park in a designated area and took us to a private room to avoid the awkwardness of grieving in the waiting room. The technician came in and got to know our sweet Roscoe and was calm, communicative with the process, and allowed us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. Would recommend Prairie Ridge to ANYONE. Kindness goes a long way, especially in times like these, so we are forever thankful for their amazing service.

You guys have been so amazing to Atlas and myself between helping me with my concerns and the accommodations. The staff truly do care about the patients, both two and four legged. I have zero worries about the quality of care Atlas is getting with the vet staff. I'm so beyond thankful you guys Love Atlas so much like he's one of your own pups. ❤️ words truly can not describe how thankful I am to have landed at your practice. I love the staff, I love Dr. Berry, wouldn't trust anyone else.

I started coming to prairie ridge animal hospital initially after my elderly husky had a tumor on her spleen. They were honest about the risk with her age and the chances of cancer and did not ever try to push me one way or the other. I decided to move forward with the procedure and got to have a few more years with her. Since then i have continued to use them for all my babies needs. They are by far my favorite vet clinic i have ever gone to , not only based off their quality of care but from the time you enter to the time you leave, everyone in there is so kind. They even give one of my dogs the royal carpet treatment of lining towels and blankets for him to walk on because he is scared of the floor lol . Prairie ridge is quite the drive for me, and even if i move further away as planned, it will still be worth the drive!

I don’t have enough words to express the gratitude I have for Prairie Ridge Animal Hospital! They are a phenomenal clinic and team!!! We had to rush my sweet baby boy in on Saturday afternoon 1hr before they closed as an emergency, they did not hesitate to jump into action and take us in! They had to hospitalize him overnight and Sunday they rushed him into surgery. They SAVED his life, and for that I will forever be grateful ❤️ Thank you so much to PRAH and their amazing dedicated team! You guys are AMAZING❤️
