How to Save Money at Mission Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Goodman and team are amazing. He saved my cat's live, now my cat has only 8 left. 😄 I got in same day and Feli needed emergency surgery. Dr. Goodman explained very thoroughly and detailed what went on. He kept me updated, and followed up with a call a week later to check on Feli. Kayla was amazing in assisting and very caring. Thank you all!

When we first moved to Mission, finding a good vet was a priority. We hit the jackpot with Mission Animal Clinic! For over 12 years, we’ve taken our dogs and cats there, and always feel that we are treated with honesty and our pets’ best interest are always at the core of each decision. Plus, the front end staff is wonderful! They are always friendly and easy to work with, and they really get to know your animals like they are your own. This goes with the vets, as well. Dr. Goodman is one of our favorites, but we always feel that the veterinarians coming in are extremely knowledgeable and have the same values as the rest. Oh, and what other vet calls you a couple days after your pet has been in to see how he or she is doing!?! They are the best!

My giant pup chipped a tooth and needed it pulled quickly. The vets and techs were gentle, kind, and clearly had my dog's best interest in mind. It's hard to leave a pup for surgery, but I knew he was going being cared for well. He's recovering well and we have found our new favorite clinic! They were also very understanding when I asked about the cost of different services and direct about the anticipated expenses (which were very reasonably priced). All the staff who took care of us were helpful, communicative, and sweet!

It makes me feel a little better that everyone else has had a great experience with them, I however did not. They were super nice. I had wanted to get my dog fixed and also some other concerns. She had allergies, an eye ulcer and a hernia. So I set up an apt to get her fixed, a chip put in her and her hernia taken care of and he referred me to a great optometrist for her eye. Long story short I went to pick her up, she was still bleeding. Like blood on the floor and her hernia was not done (still paid for it) so I mentioned it to him and he said he could schedule again. I said no. I don’t want my dog put under three times in one month(she had to be put under by eye vet later that month) so he said “let me call the eye vet and see if she will do it while she is under over there” The eye doctor said no…as she should have. Why would another doctor fix your mess up. So needless to say I paid like $250 for hernia to be removed that she still has. The people there were really nice and good with my dog just thought a vet doc would do better than that

Staff is great! They were able to get my puppy in last minute when she had a cold. Everyone was so sweet and were able to answer all of my questions I had! We are so happy to have them as our new vet.
