How to Save Money at South Heritage Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?
Pet Insurance Review makes it incredibly easy for pet parents to select an insurance provider they feel good about. You can use our handy comparison tool to get the gist of what a company offers. Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

I have 5 dogs and will not trust ANYONE but Heritage Animal Hospital to care for them. These folks are nothing less than compassionate, professional, and wonderful. They have always been attentive to the needs of our babies, following up, making sure meds are filled on time, and sending reminders for upcoming care so the immunizations do not lapse. My dogs are healthy, immunized, cared for, and alive because of this hospital. FIVE STARS ALL DAY LONG!!!

Left our dog at there for day boarding and a bath yesterday. I left food and treats for them to give him. When we picked him up, the bag of food and treats was still sitting on the work station up front. (He was there from 8:00 - 4:00.) And when he was walking in the house, I noticed that he had dried poop on his butt. Really, we paid $26 for a bath, and they didn't even get him clean. Very unprofessional!

Dropped my dog of here on a Friday for boarding until Tuesday, they called me Saturday saying my dog could barely walk because he hurt his back leg but they didn't know what happened, on Tuesday when I picked my dog up he still was barely walking and jessica said we'll it's alot better, if it's alot better than how bad was it. Remember on Saturday she didn't know what happened to him. On Tuesday she says he jumped and fell backwards. Dropped him off with 2 1 pound bags of dog food. And in 4 days they feed him a 1/4 of one bag. Took him to another vets office right after pick up to get xrayd because jessica at heritage told us he didn't need an xray but could barely walk. The vets office that did the xrays days it isn't possible for that to happen the way heritage said it did. Also said a 1/4 bag of a zip lock bag of food for an American bully is insane. In 4 days he lost 7 pounds at heritage. My wife left a bad review about this and today jessica called and said I'd you don't remove your review we will call our lawyer in you. We told JESSICA, that we reported them for what happen to our dog while in there careand jessica whent on to say so if your kids are abused at daycare do you call DCS on the daycare for abusing them well no, I said we'll yea you do call dcs for that, and she said that's stupid, my wife hung up because she was making threats about a made up lawyer so she continued to call back from a private number. Do not take your animals here, PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS FIRST, THERE ARE SO MANY WHERE PEOPLES ANIMALS HAVE DIED IN THERE CARE JUST WHILE PEOPLES ANIMALS ARE THERE FOR BOARDING. DROPPED OP COMPLETELY HEALTHY DOG TO GET HIM BACK WITH A BROKEN LEG AND 7 POUNDD LIGHTER. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE

My cats were clients for neutering and vaccines, but hadn't been taken in since covid. Because of this they removed us from their clientele list, so when I brought my cat in for help with a UTI they refused to help us because now my cats were considered new clients and they won't accept new clients. Not a single other person was there, just us and they wouldn't help. Dr. Cook was a real vet with a passion for helping animals and people. I miss him. The people there now are running a business and will happily watch your animal die without lifting a finger to help.
