How to Save Money at Warrick Veterinary Clinic - Newburgh Plaza

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Have been going here since we moved to Newburgh about 2.5 half years ago. Started with 3 dogs and they’ve always taken great care of them and answered my hundreds of annoying questions. We recently lost our best girl Athena, and when she first got sick they got us in the same day for an appointment and they did lots to help her feel better. Since her passing, we’ve received letters of condolences from the office, and it just shows how much they care about their clients.

It's disheartening to say that this clinic has consistently demonstrated a lack of integrity and empathy in its approach to veterinary care. One of the most concerning issues I've encountered at Warrick Vet Clinic is their tendency to push unnecessary products and services on pet owners. Every visit seems to involve an attempt to upcharge me for treatments and products that my dog simply doesn't need. This not only raises ethical concerns but also makes me question their dedication to the well-being of animals. Furthermore, the attitude of the staff has been consistently poor. They never seem friendly or eager to address my concerns or provide a welcoming atmosphere for my pet. Instead, their demeanor gives the impression that they are more interested in generating profit than in genuinely caring for animals. My breaking point with them occurred when they scheduled my elderly dog for surgery at 7:00 a.m., only to arrive and be told that there was no surgeon on duty. I was then informed that I would have to come back the next day, once again at 7:00 a.m. To make matters worse, the only solution they offered was to board my senior dog with them for over 24 hours, effectively fixing their mistake at my expense. While I understand the importance of my dog's surgery, this experience was the final straw with this unethical business. It's clear that WVC is more focused on profit margins than on the welfare and care of animals. As a responsible pet owner, I have no choice but to proceed with the surgery my dog needs, but I will not return to this clinic for any future veterinary needs. I urge anyone considering Warrick Vet Clinic to think twice before entrusting their beloved pets to this establishment, there's a reason they have such low rankings on Yelp. I'm not sure how they managed to get higher reviews on Google, maybe their forged like other reviews suggest. There are many compassionate and ethical veterinary clinics out there, and unfortunately, this does not seem to be one of them. The well-being of your furry family members deserves better care and consideration than what I have experienced at this clinic.

A few months ago, my dog was not in good shape. Once Monday morning arrived, I was a bit scared & desperate to get in for an appointment. They scheduled me for the afternoon. I then proceeded to seek sooner availability in Owensboro. After calling to cancel, it was apparently understood how anxious I was. They called me back & got me in. A full exam was done. Got meds & an IV. We slept peacefully shortly after the appt after having had a tumultuous weekend.

The staff here is so friendly and accommodating. My dog dislikes going to the vet and is skittish but they take their time to make him feel comfortable before giving him treatment which I greatly appreciate. They also have a very easy to use mobile app and website where you can quickly refill prescriptions and request appointments!

Only giving one star for the customer experience. Whoever Courtney is was incredibly rude on the phone and couldn't seem to understand there was any form of urgency. If you wanna make sure yout pets safe and okay pray you don't get her on the phone.
