How to Save Money at Angel Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I only give one star to warn others! Please stop and READ this warning before taking a sick pet to this emergency clinic!!! I feel compelled to state these facts, so no other family or pet suffers like our little dog! We went to this emergency vet as our dog was in distress breathing and coughing. Yea, he was older so we thought it was probably a day we would lose him. We went to the clinic and Dr. Piper saw us and told us unless we did the almost $1,000 of test he would have to be put down as he was in distress her words! Well we did the test and blood work to be told no heartworm and sent us home to wait no help for his “distress”. Nothing to ease his suffering at all and no answers except his lung had fluid in them! As we waited his condition worsened and I left two messages on the emergency number with one being he was now seizing! He had seizures periodically but the stress oh his little body was certainly the cause of this seizure. There were no return calls for our emergency messages!!! We called our old vet and less than two hours later we had to let him go was we could no longer selfishly keep him and allow him to suffer! We are so grateful for Meridian Veterinary clinic who were compassionate and accommodating along with their patience as we said goodbye. Well after 7 pm Dr. Piper finally called but it was way to late as he was gone. Dr. Piper is a cold and compassion is not a trait!!! In Dr. Pipers words our dog was clearly in distress so of course we were willing to spend the $951 on our beloved pet. We never got any answers other than no heartworm and then we were sent home with him to continue his suffering for 5 more hours. They totally ignored our emergency message pleas to help us and our dog who was dying in our arms! Please take this warning as we do not want any family to have a similar experience! They may be good for preventative care but do not take your sick animals here there is absolutely no compassion they kept saying how thankful they were we held or dog so if he was sick he didn’t contaminate the room we were in. Of course we were holding him hanging on to him because we loved him and were hoping they could help us. Unfortunately they only prolonged his suffering and ours. We were lucky to have Meridian Vet let us walk in and helped us to ease his pain at 4:45 pm. So paying all that money only to have our dog suffer and still have to say goodbye!!!!! Do not go here !

Doctor Piper is incredibly knowledgeable and has helped us quite a bit with routine health and also issues. I think the only concern we have had with theor facility is that they often seem understaffed. It has been to the point that we have been mistakenly charged for items and services we didn't request. Also, the communication between the vet techs and the front desk has gaps to where we aren't being given the correct items we had to purchase. It's not a deal breaker but it has cause some headaches especially when you spend hundreds of dollars for your pets.

I've called almost all the Clinics and hospitals. Angels was the only one to actually helped. And seem to care. Pt.2 of this review. Ive never seen this much care and attention to detail from any other Animal hospital. As you know I rescue wild and domestic animals. This is my number 1 choice for your pets care. They did a proper and correct exam. Far more than any other. Reasonable price. But I don't care about price although some have too. The care is what counts. Thanks to the staff. I want to thank all the staff for the card! That was AWESOME!!! By the way a dog is only mean if you make it that way. My pits are Sweethearts!

My husband and have traveled an hour from home for Kailey Skye, our little Maltese to see Dr. Piper for 2+ years now. And it's worth every mile. We've tried 3 veterinarians in Columbus, IN and could not find the care and compassion we've experienced with Dr. Piper. An example: when our fur baby had her first dental, we were nervous about how she might tolerate anesthesia. "Nervous" may actually be an understatement. I cried just thinking about it that day. Kailey Skye fared well with the procedure, but she had a tooth removed. We had questions for her doctor, as the cavity was very large, but we never saw her doctor that day. He sent technicians to answer every one of our questions. Back and forth they came and went. People we'd never laid eyes on before. In fact, we had never seen the veterinarian himself, but once. That was the first time we had met him. He was personable. Seemed knowledgeable. And we never saw him again. It didn't matter if we went into the office for an annual checkup or dental surgery, he was elusive. I wrote him about 3 emails over time. He never answered one. I was heartbroken, because Kailey Skye is my first pet and I'd hoped we'd finally found a veterinarian we could partner with in her care. And trust. And I hoped for a tad bit of warmth. But how can you trust someone you never see? As we moved on from his practice, I kindly and thoughtfully noted my disappointment in an email. And wow, he finally wrote back. (I wasn't out to hurt him or his practice, so I didn't post a Google Review). Still, he wrote back with disdain. Many of his words were in caps: "I am sorry that I wasn't FRONT and CENTER every time you came to my office! But we are a TEAM here and..." In the end, he suggested that we move on. I told him we already had. That we'd moved on to Dr. Piper. And oh, my what a difference. I couldn't help but sing Dr. Piper's praises! Our experience with Dr. Piper has been the very opposite of that awful practice. We're not overbearing (I hope). Our vet seldom hears from us, unless it's time for an appointment or we have an important question. All I ever hoped for was warmth. Knowledge. And familiarity. So that Kailey Skye is well-cared for, and should there come a time that her vet has to say, "It's time to say goodbye," I can rest in those words, that it's truly for the best. Because I know the vet. And I trust him or her. Dr. Piper is exactly what I imagined a good veterinarian would be. And she is actually more. She's exceptional. And I can't be more grateful for the care, the warmth and the love she shows my pup every single visit. My, where do I start? After our first visit, meeting Dr. Piper, I cried. She was personable, warm. She smiles the whole time. Every single visit. She is very knowledgeable and readily shares information we can trust. My husband researches topics about animal care and Dr. Piper is never too busy or bothered to answer our questions and she often shares additional insight. She's direct. But never pushy. She's so sweet with our fur baby - just lavishes love on her. And she's warm with us as well. I never feel rushed or unheard. Every question is answered well. Dr. Piper has been wonderful helping Kailey Skye with routine care, and she helped clear up a more serious concern ultra efficiently. Ah, I'm so very thankful for her! The reason I cried a few days after Kailey Skye's first visit, was because we received a card in the mail. With a photo of Angel Hospital - their beautiful (and ultra clean looking, and smelling) building on the front. Dr. Piper and every employee had signed it. And included thoughtful little notes about Kailey Skye and what a "sweet little lady" she was her first visit, and how they looked forward to seeing her again. My heart melted. And we've experienced the same warmth and kindness every single time we've been in Dr. Piper's presence. Dr. Piper, thank you for who you are, and for all that you do. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. What a beautiful heart you have. We and Kailey Skye appreciate you so much!

I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with Angel Animal Hospital to help inform other pet owners. Unfortunately, the quality of service at this clinic has drastically declined over the years. A few months ago, my cat was treated for congestive heart failure (CHF) at Noah's Animal Hospital. Following this emergency treatment, we returned to Angel for a follow-up. At a time when I was already very concerned and anxious, the visit did not help. Dr. Piper provided a very conservative, grim outlook on his condition; in particular, she obtusely generalized that our cat’s typical posture was indicative of severe discomfort and decline... all cats are different. Angel charged us $250 toll for this cursory visit, offering us a referral to a cardiologist. The visit left me more distraught than before and certainly did not feel worth the $250 fee. Our cardiologist later reassured us that CHF conditions vary widely and should not be generalized, contrary to Dr. Piper’s approach. Fortunately, our cat has since shown significant improvement due to the rehab we've managed at home (some cases of CHF can be effectively managed - we are lucky). Additionally, dealing with prescriptions at Angel is a major hassle. They require you to collect and mail handwritten prescriptions yourself, refuse to communicate directly with pharmacies, and charge $5 per prescription. It's obvious they prefer customers to buy medications directly from them at inflated prices. When they forgot to sign the prescriptions necessary for my cat’s heart medication, I had to urgently coordinate over the phone with Chewy and Angel to resolve the issue—a completely avoidable and stressful situation. It’s clear that Angel Animal Hospital prioritizes financial gain over the well-being of the animals in their care. The clinic is poorly managed, the staff turnover is high, and the atmosphere is tense. I strongly urge you to seek out a more reliable and compassionate veterinary service for your beloved pets. We will not be returning to Angel Animal Hospital.
