How to Save Money at Creekwood Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

You can tell they care about your animal and that's hard to find. My cats love it there. The 1st time I was there I thought the prices were kind of high but it even doubt because this time during identity theft, frozen accounts and a sick cat the vet worked me out a special price that I thought was very kind and very considerate. I highly recommend this place.

Dr. Green is top-notch! My dog went in after limping and not putting pressure down for a few days. I didn’t know if it was a sprain or broken leg. I couldn’t give her the calming medicine I normally do because she needed to be able to hop. Dr. Green was so calm (and kept her calm) and did such a thorough examination she said we should try muscle relaxers and pain medication first. Which I agreed with. She could’ve started with x-rays and all the high bills. But she took her time to thoroughly examine her and I appreciate that greatly! It’s only been one day, but my dog is sleeping peacefully and walking on four legs for the first time in days.

The best VET in the area of Granite city and pontoon Beach!!! This office is so personable Dr. Spector and his son (just took over the practice fully, so doc could retire fully!) both are absolutely amazing doctors and veterinarians! They have the best bedside manner and the best pricing in the area comparable to any other vets in the Granite city or Pontoon Beach location. This is the place that you want to be if you have an issue with your pups or your kitties, they have great pricing because they do not over charge with unnecessary fees, honestly they would rather keep your business and see you return than to try and sell you on something unnecessary. They keep up on your babies if you need a reminder call they give it if you need an emergency appointment they give it, if you need compassion they give it, if you need empathy they give it and all together; they just love the animals they allow their staff to bring their dogs to work with them and they treat their staff really great, with long term ladies that get to know you and your animals personally! They do not give out any of your personal info without knowing the passcode on your chart! During Covid-19 and these trying times they’re still open and here for all of your needs as though they are running a full office still, because they are! At this time, to keep the humans safe during the virus outbreak, they’re doing curbside pick up in the tremendously hot heat and the doctor comes out and has your consult and appointment with you even in the heart with the sweat dripping, he is truly there for the animals and to keep you up and running with your animals so they don’t miss out on their meds or heart worm preventative or any other medication they need and keep your pups and your kitties safe and I believe they do house calls as well for your larger farm animals, don’t quote me bc I’m not sure but they might!! They are hands down the best all around in every way possible, the best Vet in the area! People drive from Edwardsville to bring their furry friends to the Dr. Spector! There Is not enough you can say, very clean inside the office, brand new asphalt parking, car side service when it comes to anything contagious and great pricing on maintenance meds! Well kept yard for the doggies to walk in!
