How to Save Money at Northlake Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I work in a doctors office, and I make sure I greet and "welcome" every patient that walks in... i came to pick up my kitten.... and 4 workers at front and only 1 said they'll let those in the back know I was there to get my kitten... every one else didn't even bother to say hello or even look up. This is not the 1st time I've felt disappointed in their bed side manners. Nothing at a vet is cheap and my fur baby is scared... as am I...and love the location cause it's close to home... but seriously be more friendly and outgoing!!! Show me you care about my pet! The Dr that discharged my cat was nice.

My Westies had the best care here over the course of nearly twenty years. They both lived long lives. The Dr's. and staff are compassionate, patient, and skilled. I will never forget how caring they were during end-of-life decisions and process.

I've been coming here for many years, unfortunately this vet has gone way downhill. I feel they make mistakes and aren't honest. I used to think they were great, but I believe they are the result of two of my dogs dieing prematurely and at the hands of the same Dr. My most recent dog I brought her to be spayed she was almost 5 and was a rescued dog. She had tests done beforehand to make sure she was OK to be put under anesthesia. The results came out great. She was perfectly fine when I dropped her off. Then I get a call she didn't do good under the anesthesia so a few hours later I pick her up and she was not the same at all. Brought her back cause she wasn't eating they said everything was fine and just gave some medicine. Almost a month later still not the same brought her to a different vet and they told me it would be best to euthanize her because she had so much fluid buildup in her body and they were surprised she was still alive. I fully believe something happened that they did some kind of mistake and aren't being honest cause again my dog was perfectly fine when I dropped her off. Years and years of going here I will never Ever step foot in this vet again. The devastation we are going through is unreal. My other dog I think the medicine they gave him killed him. It was almost a year ago. The very day I picked up the medicine, I gave it to him and I thought he was sleeping. He had passed away in his sleep. They said his heart gave out but I just find it hard to believe he was fine all week until I picked up his meds and then he dies the same day? I give them to him. Idk and now my sweet Marley is gone. I wish we never brought her to be spayed. It's just heartbreaking.

No compassion, only interested in collecting money upfront, told them I needed a follow-up appointment for my dog after he had been in the emergency after being hit by a car. The ignored my request said that my dog could not be seen until in 2 weeks and I paid a deposit that would be applied to the vet bill. Never heard this before.
