How to Save Money at City Line Veterinary Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My two year old wire fox terrier, Paxton, has been a patient at City Line since he was 6 weeks old. We have had nothing but wonderful experiences with the staff at City Line. They are great with Paxton and always very patient with him. The facility is beautiful and spotless. There prices are extremely affordable, and I love their wellness packages. I know I can trust them 100% to take care of him! 10/10 recommend!

They took very good care of our 18 year old cat Duchess. We drove down 45 minutes to their facility. Intake was easy breezy. Doctor walked us through her symptoms, gave us recommendations on her care, and sent us home with medication that they had ready at checkout. Very reasonable pricing, paid about what we expected to. Will definitely keep them on our speed dial for future services. They also clipped her nails and did a fantastic job!

This place and the people who work here are absolutely incredible. I am beyond thankful for their help. My dog had been hit by a car this morning and I couldn’t find any vets near me in office, I called six different places. I drove an hour to get to city line and my dog was seen instantly, they were so nice and worked around the money I had. My pup is now at home, stitched up and resting thanks to these amazing people.

I could not recommend a veterinary clinic more than I do them, specifically Dr.Hoyt, he has not once but twice saved one of our animals ( he was also the doctor who saved my dog, Kujo when he had parvo) The front end staff is amazing and extremely helpful when it comes to questions, and also extremely empathetic, and have consistently gave us updates about our animals each time we have to visit for emergency reasons They also do their best to try to remember my animals names when they see me multiple times in a day, as I recall having taken one of my cats Salami in, and the kind gentleman remembered her name as he helped me with the food, or today when another staff member remembered my kitten from a few months ago at her first appointment Another special shout out I would like to make is for the staff member with blue hair, thank you for being patient with me today when I called you in tears, and being as concerned as I was for my babies wellbeing For more routine visits, they are equally as amazing, helping me figure out what needs to be done and the best food for my fur babies. It is always so clean inside the clinic, and always so welcoming. It also warms my heart to see a staff who enjoy their jobs and have positive attitudes and to hopefully pass the love along, I have included pictures of my wonderful babies who have had an excellent experience with city line

I had an emergency with my dog Walter while in Quad Cities coming from out of town. Dr. Hoyt and his amazing team got us in right away and couldn’t have been nicer while providing the upmost care for my dog. Staff all around great. Dean the veterinary specialist and office team was great as well. I’d recommend 10/10 times and if lived in the area, hands down would be my primary Vet. Truly make you and your animal feel cared for.
