How to Save Money at Pet Wellness Center PC
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our dog Bella is a 9 year old lab/shepherd mix. At the end of January 2023, she started behaving in a manner that suggested she was not feeling well and was in a lot of pain (walking slower, limping, panting more, breathing faster, tired, and whining), totally different from her usual rambunctious self! We tried to get her into our regular vet, but were unable to get her in immediately so we called Pet Wellness Center and they got her in that same day. She saw Dr. Kozak, (awesome veterinarian) who examined her, ran lab tests, and did xrays, so we could find out what was wrong with our precious girl (we got all labs and tests results back within an hour). Lab work only showed a very high elevation in one of her liver enzymes (she takes phenobarbital for seizures and it can cause this type of elevation). The xrays showed severe osteoarthritis in her back and her right leg/knee area. She was placed on medications to help this and Dr. Kozak recommended laser therapy treatments twice a week for three weeks, stating they have had a lot of success with them. She had her first treatment that same day and what a difference it made, when we got home she went outside with her sister and 2 brothers and was running around a little bit more, we were amazed! Since then we have continued the laser therapy treatments once per week, (after the initial six treatments), do red light therapy on her at home a few times a week, and her medications. Since first taking her to Pet Wellness Center in January until now (the end of March) the results have been night and day, she runs around outside with her brothers and sister, has more energy, and overall she’s happier!!! She acts like her younger self again! We are so grateful for Pet Wellness Center getting her in quickly and taking care of her and giving our Bella a new lease on life!!! The veterinarian and staff are all kind people, gentle with the our babies, and you can tell they all have a true love for the animals they take care of!!! We love you Pet Wellness Center and will continue to recommend you to anyone we know with fur babies!!!

This is a wonderful clinic! I was to the point if they couldn’t help my dog I was seriously considering putting my dog down. He was hurting so bad I felt so bad. They seen him told me what to do and gave him the medication he needed and within 2 days he was better and up walking around where he couldn’t before. I recommend this clinic to everyone if the are having trouble with their pet or even if they are not having trouble. They have a lot of preventative procedures that you need to check out!

We were very pleased with our visit to pet wellness. We enjoy the expertise of Dr. Smith he has always taken good care of our dog Gracie. We had to board both our dogs Gracie and our new pup Annabelle. We had Gracie boarded at a different place before and she came home scared and acted strangely for a few days. I really didn’t want to board her again but trusted Dr. Smith and his crew. My dogs came back happy and healthy with no signs of stress. This was such a relief. Thank you Pet Wellness for such great care of our pups!

My regular vet is on vacation and my FIV cat needed 2 shots her regular vet always gives her to calm her digestive issues. This was explained to Pet Wellness when I called them and they made her appt. Once I drove 40 miles to get there and showed documentation what her regular vet does for her, the Pet Wellness vet never came into the room and left it up to the vet tech to tell me they would not give her the injections that have always worked for her. Instead they wanted to do blood work and a bunch of tests. Guess to get more $$'s from me that I couldn't afford. We left without her getting the shots she needed.

On vacation and had to take my dog in. They got her records so I didn't have to. Dr Smith explained everything, and even checked her for another problem that is chronic to her. I will be back in 6 wks for him to do surgery to correct that issue. My vet at home wouldn't even discuss surgery for it. Wish I lived closer so Pet Wellness could be my regular vet.
