How to Save Money at Animal Hospital of Loves Park
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff were extremely friendly. Listened to all my concerns and addressed each one. My cat doesn't like strangers to touch her but the vet made her feel so comfy. Love I was recommended here

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Amin, Jessica, Alex and the rest of the crew at Animal Hospital of Loves Park. They were so amazing when I was losing my “first born” toy fox terrier Delilah due to her worsening kidney disease. They accommodated me for emergency visits, taught me how to give IV fluids under the skin 2x daily and we’re so incredibly wonderful the day I had to say gooodbye to my baby so she could be free of pain and disease. Alex & Jessica did a memorial paw print I had brought in and clipped some of her oh so silky fur. It’s taken me over 2 years to write this because of the immense incredible loss still leaves a permanent hole in my heart. Lila was my first dog as an adult in my 20’s, she was there for me when i drove solo across the country non-stop to be with my parents when my mom was fighting terminal cancer, the loss of my mom to cancer, when I gave birth to extremely premature 1 lb twins, the birth of my youngest daughter, my fibromyalgia, chronic Lyme disease, and adrenal issues, and the loss of my father in March of 2020. I have so many incredibly beautiful memories. Dr. Amin is the most caring and compassionate vet I’ve ever met! He’s the only Dr there and sees your pets and performs surgery’s all day in betweenHe truly has remarkable strength, stamina, and poise. He’s extremely skilled and talented surgeon as Delilah had to have one of her eyes removed a year prior to her passing due to her cataracts, she walked into my daughters plastic picnic table causing severe swelling and infection. He never ceases to amaze me. The price is extremely affordable and as stated the staff is phenomenal. They make an effort to remember you and treat you like friends or family. The last 6 months of Lila’s life I spent a lot of time going back and forth, Alex & Jessica were always so incredible and empathetic. I adopted a new toy fox terrier almost immediately and wouldn’t take her anywhere else! Be patient with scheduling as they are a busy veterinary office with one very hardworking doctor and hard working staff! Thank you all so much for all that you do!

I have been bringing my Oswald here since he could fit in my hand. The staff here saved his life. He is 2 now and I will forever be so thankful for them and everything they did for him at the beginning of his life. We welcomed two more kittens into our family and can’t wait to get them acquainted with the staff. I will forever recommend this office to anyone who needs a veterinarian. Their prices can’t be beat either.! So affordable. Thank you for everything you guys do. 🥰

I've used many vets in the area and this place has the lowest prices that I have found and the doctor is very good with our animals. They also offer boarding.

My dog has been very sick since her last visit to this clinic. She went to the clinic to get her skin checked because she was itching profusely. She also was due for her second rabies shot. When I brought her to the clinic they did an exam of her ears (sticking a tube down her ear) without my knowledge which charged an entire extra $100 as well as putting solution in her ear. He then gave her the shot in her arm rather than her thigh. I was made aware that a rabies shot can be injected in either the thigh or arm by a secondary vet insight. The vet gave off the impression of rushing the visit and not officially caring for the patient (my dog) itself. He didn’t even check my dog’s skin which was the whole initial reason of the visit in the first place so I did not receive any prescription after the visit or anything regarding her itching. Once my dog was done with her visit her persona completely changed. She lost all of her energy. Her eyes were blood shot red and still is. She is shaking, drooling. She started throwing up every hour. She won’t eat or drink anything. She barely moves as well and she has an uncontrollable bladder and is continuously pooping everywhere around the house. The poop is legit liquid. It is very dark brown liquid stool coming from her behind. She can’t even sit to poop. She has diapers on right now. I continued to call them since then asking why she is acting like this and they kept saying to keep her hydrated. After continually calling with my concerns they then finally advised me to bring her back in. Once I brought her back in the same doctor off the bat stated she has Parvo. He also remembered our last conversation from our last visit that we have 6 dogs in total at our home all loved and cared for so he mentioned them as well stating they will get it as well if not treated soon and started informing me of the bill, etc. all of our dogs at home are fine. Has energy, eating, drinking, etc. She has been sick for a total of 5 days (during that entire time our other dogs are still acting fine) and she is not getting any better. When he was informing me of the Parvo I started to cry because he also stated that if I can NOT pay for the treatment that she must be put down, once I started crying I noticed a smirk on his face. Who smiles in a time like this. Once my brother and sister arrived to the clinic the Vet changed his entire insight on the situation now stating that she must have swallowed something she shouldn’t have like a rock or sock. But again remember she started acting off as soon as she left the Vet Clinic Doors. I also wanted to include that my sister brought her dog in for a rabies shot the same day that I took my dog in. And her dog is acting fine and not only that, they charged me $20 for her rabies shot but charged my sister $50 for her rabies shot due to her not being neutered. Both dogs are NOT neutered though. I do NOT recommend this clinic, they seem money hungry and will do anything for extra cash. My dog is still sick and we still do not know what is wrong. We will be bringing her to a different clinic along with our other dogs. (During this time she’s been sick we have tried contacting other vet clinics around our area but unfortunately at this time all have said they are full and cannot take any more patients which is why we continued to contact the past clinic for help.) We will keep trying other businesses and doing everything we can to care for her in the meantime. We will NOT be continuing business with them. They DO NOT care about your animals!!
