How to Save Money at Ukrainian Village Veterinary Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The best! We just had our first visit with Dr. Andrew and had an amazing experience. Even before the visit, the staff were extremely welcoming, communicable, and accommodating. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. Dr. Andrew was very patient, kind, and detailed. He made it a point to make sure I was comfortable with the plans/recommendations and answered all my questions. The facility is also very clean! My pups had a blast. Would highly recommend them!

We love Ukrainian Village Vet! We have been there for multiple check ups and services for our two cats. Most recently one of our cats needed many teeth extracted. We were very nervous about the procedure but everyone at Ukrainian Village Vet explained everything thoroughly. Shout out to Mike for answering all our questions and explaining how to give the post op meds. Also to Dr Butenko who called us as soon as the procedure was done to let us know how Chester was doing. Thank you to everyone!

My dog, Corky, has been going to UVVC since I got him in July of 2022 at 8 weeks old. As a first time dog owner of a rescue puppy, I had so many questions and concerns. Dr. Butenko and the UVVC staff were nothing but kind and helpful. They created a structured plan for Corky to get all his shots and vaccines, and helped me whenever I had concerns that come with puppyhood (feeding schedule, potty behavior, etc). Corky now LOVES going to the vet. When he can tell we are walking there he gets excited and if we are ever in the vicinity without an appointment, he'll beg to go inside. It's always easy to book, although the doctor's schedule can be busy sometimes so always try to plan in advance. Also the vet techs and front desk staff have been very helpful in providing me the documentation I need for pet insurance claims. I love my dog more than anything and I feel super confident with him in the care of the Ukrainian Village Veterinary Center. Highly recommend to pet parents in the neighborhood!

Dr. Butenko and the staff at Ukrainian Village Veterinary Center have been an incredible addition to the neighborhood. We are so thankful to be able to bring our pup and our cat here. They are so gentle in their care, and so informative/in-depth. I always feel like my pets are getting the best care possible and I leave feeling confident in any next steps that I may need to take. Highly recommend making an appointment here for your pets!

I had a great experience here! The entire staff is friendly, efficient, and accommodating. I had the wrong date for our appointment but Dr. Butenko managed to squeeze in a visit for my dog Roz that day anyway, despite his schedule already being completely booked. On top of this, he was very clear and helpful throughout the appointment. I know Roz's care is in great hands here!
