How to Save Money at Sploot Veterinary Care - Logan Square
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I 100% recommend you coming to this spot. I had called two hours before they closed and they were able to get me in that same night. They handled my dog with a lot of care and took care of the problem right away. Her eye was so much better the second we left the vet. Will be back for future needs! (Before and after photos)

We took our brand new pup in to be treated for worms and Sploot was able to take us in the same day! They provided amazing care, were very upfront with pricing, and made little Annabelle feel super comfortable for her first trip to the vet. I can't say enough good things about this place, and Annabelle can't wait for her next visit!

Sploot was great for us in a pinch! My dog was having some GI issues and when our regular vet couldn’t see us we came to Sploot and they happily accommodated us that morning. The staff were gentle and very communicative about my dog’s care and the costs associated with it, which was much appreciated. Thanks Sploot for helping little Poptart get back to her normal self! We’d happily choose Sploot again!

when i first saw the sign for sploot pop up in my neighborhood several months ago, i was very excited. as a very proud parent to two very sassy and dramatic children (billy bob and violet- dogs), it was just what the neighborhood needed. I figured it would be a little pretentious, a little cold, a little overpriced—because god knows the kid’s (now ex) dr vet is, most places are, but it was fine! it would be worth it to have that peace of mind knowing that if god forbid something is off, i can just run them around the corner. Well, I was wrong— Billy Bob unfortunately had a lil issue with his bladder last week, and I, the doting mother, went into full on panic. His normal vet was booked, but offered to do some tests for a lot of money but wouldn’t prescribe him medication to get rid of the infection(& pain!) for a few hundred more and at least a week later, never again. When you walk into Sploot, it’s impeccably clean, and perfectly aesthetic, Billy hates dogs (he thinks he’s human) so I’m always worried about waiting rooms but it’s was clear and empty and I was quickly escorted into a private room, titled Mick Jagger, with no wait at all. The two at the front were helpful, friendly, just perfectly lovely. My vet tech ( i forgot your name i’m so sorry) was a delight, warm and welcoming but also efficient. When the vet, Dr Tyler Johnston, came in, he lit up the room, he was knowledgeable, helpful, it gentle with my Bill, i could tell he genuinely cared that my son was uncomfortable and he was patient and thorough with the exam, he answered all my questions, I never once felt rushed or ignored, I was also in and out very fast, they’re efficient and knew what they were doing. i paid 1/3 of what i would of paid if i took him to his normal vet, they also offer care credit and other options that break the total price up if need be, and at the end I was given a goody bag with cute and informative magnets and a ball which Billy’s sister abruptly stole the second we got home. I feel confident and comfortable bringing the two most important things to me here, and recommend it to anyone with animals. Thank you Sploot for helping my little man get rid of his UTI 👉🏻
