How to Save Money at Scout Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog's eye hurt after went to the lake and he can't barely open his eye. His vet don't have available time for him and if i bring him to ER it's too expensive. So, i called Scout and they help me by finding available time just a couple minute to help him. Therefore, he has a cornea ulter on his right eye and the vet give him some eye drop after a couple hours he getting better and comfortable to open his eye. Also, the price is cheaper then the others that i normally went to. I would recommend Scout cause they're so friendly and able to help pets at all times!!!

Scout Veterinary Urgent Care has been a life saver for me and my two pups (Mabel & Bettie) offering same day last minute appointments and quality care. The entire team from the kind and knowledgable front desk staff (Dominique, Nicole) to the incredibly caring and thoughtful doctors (Dr. Monik & Dr. Simpson) have been wonderful to us. I appreciate that the team has years of experience in high volume emergency care and that they have created a unique niche space for urgent care. We have been in to Scout for visits a few different times - once I thought Mabel ingested some rat poison and was able to get her right over to induce vomiting and get some charcoal in her system. Another time I came in with Mabel not feeling her best and got some pain meds and updating vaccines for both pups. The doctors have been helpful in adjusting Mabel's medications post visit and are prompt to respond to my questions. Beyond that - the entire space is beautifully designed and so comfortable. Vet's offices can be a stressful experience for our loved ones and I adore the benches in the reception and the exam rooms where my babies can sit comfortably next to me as if they are on the couch at home. Highly recommend this local business for any veterinary services. Two paws up from Mabel and Bettie!

I had a really supportive experience here at Scout during a very difficult time. I was able to make a next-day appointment online with no trouble and when I arrived everyone was so friendly even though I had never visited before. The diagnosis for my kitty was not good; Dr. Monick explained a range of options without making me feel that one was better than the other and gave me plenty of time to process the news before making a decision. I was able to have a few days of quality time with my kitty before I had to say goodbye, and I am so grateful for that. I wish you could have been my full-time vet, but maybe in the future!

I have brought my dog Cosi here twice in the past few months for separate issues. I was so impressed both times by the Staff and facility they have. Timely service (Dr. Simpson saw us right after the technician got questions answered & her vitals) and everyone is very thorough with options for treatments as well as going over costs of options before moving forward with treatment. I am so relieved to have Scout to bring her to because I know she'll be in great hands and on her way to feeling better! Both times, she was seen within 24 hours of me deciding to take her in which is much faster than my local vet can see her. Thank you to everyone at Scout!

I came to Scout in an emergency since my cat Mochi wasn’t eating for several days. While I was denied at almost all the vets due to them being overbooked I was able to make a same day appointment here. One thing I appreciate is that they let you stay in the room for your baby’s check up. Other vets usually take your animal and make you wait outside. This made me feel so much more comfortable. This facility is also very clean and uses high quality paper towels haha! Pretty random but remarkable. The staff was very kind, and understanding. They also were very welcoming to questions and concerns. They were also able to give you price projections within a reasonable budget. Unfortunately, her tests came back all messed up and I had to make the most difficult decision in my life, to take my sweet babygirl out of her misery. I lost my Princess because her kidney’s were failing to do their job. I adopted Mochi in 2021 as my emotional support animal. She was 11 years old when I got her and she was the most beautiful, sweetest and, loving cat in the entire world. Everyone who met her always changed their minds about cats. I have never cried so many tears in my life and as I’m writing this, down pours some more, but they were so patient with me and let me spend as much time as I needed with her in her last moments. They close at 7pm and I didn’t leave until around 7:45pm. I miss her so much but I’m glad I was able to set her free with the help of Scout. I just received a plant today from Scout with a sweet note inside. Melted my heart, nothing in the entire world can replace my sweet Mochi but, this plant is a new friend in my life that will keep Mochi’s memory alive. It was the best gift ever! Thank you so much Scout! I appreciate your service, your kindness, and you care for your customers. I will always highly recommend your vet because this was the most impactful moment in my entire world. I’m so glad I found your vet and that Mochi was in your care.
