How to Save Money at Integrative Pet Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog Moose tore his CCL in January and the surgeon recommended we go to IPC once he was ready for rehab. IPC was so good with him, building his trust and going his speed for intros, touching/maneuvering his limbs, etc (he's finicky). Moose worked primarily with Brooklyn and I cannot say enough good things about her. She was incredibly helpful providing me with exercises to try with Moose and was always so positive and encouraging. Dr Kelli Martin was amazing and even though it took awhile for Moose to gain his muscle back, she always came to our check-ins with a plan of action and we got him there!!! I'm so happy with the care Moose received at IPC and would highly recommend to anyone needing help with their pup!!

IPC have being amazing Ace have surgery for his patella luxation and also torn ACL the vet recommendation was therapy and I’m thankful they recommended us to IPC we did the 8 weeks program but we noticed how much improvement he have made and how amazing they treat him and have much he have improved . We did more sessions to help him more with his mobility. Ace have anxiety they understand him and he love going there to see him going for his walks and running we don’t have no words to describe how grateful we are how they take care of him and others furry babies . The moment you go in for your consultation you feel the warm and how much they care starting from the front desk staff, therapist and doctor . Scheduling and answering any questions via phone and email have being great ..

This place is a safe haven for myself and my girl who is ridden with orthopedic issues. We came when my 9MO pup was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia and immediately began hydrotherapy, PT, massages, and Adequan injections. A few months in, the therapists and our doctor here, Dr.Ridley kept commenting on her elbow was clicking and had some tightness and how they were a bit suspicious there was something going on there. Sure enough, she was shortly diagnosed afterwards with elbow dysplasia and had to have surgery. It’s been a journey, but our girl has made a full recovery. It’s pretty emotional watching your young pup act like she’s a senior and not be able to walk around the block, to living a NORMAL life and taking 30 minute walks and playing and having full energy. IPC gave her that, and I will be forever grateful. Dr. Ridley and the therapists have such genuine love for their patients and keep such a keen eye on everything your dog is feeling, moving, experiencing that I genuinely feel like I get a report card every time laying out how my girl is doing, how she’s feeling, and how she is responding to her therapy (which is how they caught on to her elbow dysplasia so early). Sometimes I feel sad for myself or my pup with the cards she was dealt, but coming here is the highlight of her week, and without IPC she wouldn’t have gained a mass amount of muscle and have recovered the way she has and leading a normal life. We are definitely “lifers” and love everyone here!

My dog loves going here for his PT. Very very nice staff. I think he healed well from surgery and I think IPC is a big reason for this

I can't say enough wonderful things about the doctors, techs, and supporting staff here at IPC! My senior (6 years old) giant breed (110lbs) girl had a shoulder injury September 2020, pain medication and regenerative therapy were not enough for her to completely heal from it. It broke my heart because she loved running and couldn't do it for months and months. We had weekly therapies at IPC for half a year, Dr. Ridley came up with different rehab plans according to her progress, and the technicians were so amazing at keeping both us and the doctor in the loop on her performance each session. The client care representatives were always so responsive and efficient to coordinate our scheduling or billing questions. My dog loved going there, and we would most definitely keep up with the rehab if we didn't have to move to another state. But just for our sessions here, we see great improvement on her mobility, she's now able to run again and hike with us!! This makes us so happy!! Big shoutout to Katie for her excellent hydro therapy sessions and Renee for her telemedicine at-home exercise demos!!
