How to Save Money at Companion Animal Hospital Wicker Park
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Friday, September 8, 2023 10:08 AM I cannot express how grateful I am for the exceptional care and unwavering compassion provided by the entire staff, practice, and Dr. Moser at Companion Animal Hospital Wicker Park. My journey with them began when my sweet boy was just entering his senior years, and their dedication and love for him have left an indelible mark on my heart. From the very first visit, it was abundantly clear that they treated my feline friend as if he were their own. As he aged and his health issues multiplied, I faced the daunting task of finding a trustworthy place to board him when we had to leave town. Fortunately, Companion Animal Hospital Wicker Park became not just a place for medical care but a second home for my beloved 18-year-old cat, whom I had been bringing to them since he was 13 or 14. What sets this practice apart is the genuine care and commitment they demonstrate towards their furry patients and their families. The staff, with their warm smiles and attentive demeanor, always made me feel welcomed and valued. They took the time to listen to all my questions and concerns, no matter how trivial they may have seemed, and ensured that I left each appointment with a sense of reassurance and knowledge. But it was Dr. Moser and the entire team's unwavering support during my cat's twilight years that truly sets them apart. My sweet old man faced a myriad of health issues, and the team at Companion Animal Hospital Wicker Park was there every step of the way. What distinguishes them is their commitment to ethical and honest care. Never once did they attempt to upsell me or push unnecessary treatments. Instead, they consistently provided me with candid guidance about his health, always putting his best interests ahead of profit for the practice. In the world of veterinary care, finding professionals who are both competent and compassionate can be a challenge, but I can confidently say that Companion Animal Hospital Wicker Park has exceeded all my expectations. Their love and dedication to my baby brought me unparalleled peace of mind during a challenging period in both our lives. Even if circumstances were to lead me far away from their location, I would go to great lengths to continue entrusting my beloved pets to this practice. The bond they've built with my family is irreplaceable, and I wholeheartedly recommend Companion Animal Hospital Wicker Park to anyone seeking exemplary care and a team that treats your furry family members as their own. Thank you, Companion Animal Hospital Wicker Park, for being a beacon of love and compassion in the world of veterinary care. Your dedication and kindness will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

I kid you not, my dog actually ENJOYS going to the vet because everyone at Companion is so awesome. All the staff are super friendly & knowledgable and they genuinely love animals and make an effort to bond with your pets. We've been going for a couple years and my dog gets super excited any time we walk by the office. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the wonderful service they provide. Definitely recommend!!

This is one of the most patient, compassionate, and thorough teams of veterinarian professionals I’ve ever encountered. Truly! I am so thankful for the care each and every one of their staff has provided for our furry babies. Our cats are especially finicky and alarmed by even the slightest change to their environment. Past vet visits have been pretty traumatizing for them—all of us! But when I drop them off to a friendly face and they come home happy and leaping around with detailed aftercare instructions keeping them so? I couldn’t ask for more peace of mind. Thanks for your amazing service and care Companion Animal Hospital Team!

I don't even have the words to say how grateful I am for seeing Sammi. He belonged to a friend, who passed in February of this year. She had been suffering the last year from ovarian cancer. Needless to say the poor dog had been neglected. A friend referred me here, and I have to say the compassion for Sammi was overwhelming. Nicole, I love you girl. This technician updated me every step of the way. Medical shave, teeth cleaning, shots, the works. I am so thankful they squeezed him in their busy schedule. Without a doubt, they are the best. I have uploaded before and after pictures so you can see what I mean when I say they are the best. I love you guys!

Best vet ever. They just called me a couple of weeks after my visit to check in on how my dog was going (after doing this several other times). Absolutely the best.
