How to Save Money at Brighton Park Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Sadly our dog started to take a turn for the worse on Labor Day weekend. He wasn’t so bad to take him to the ER and of course our Vet was closed on Sunday so I reached out on a FB dog group and someone was able to direct me to Dr. Perez. He reached out and was able to schedule an at home euthanasia (which is what I requested) for Labor Day. He was out of town but had his associate Dr. Garcia and Felipe come to our place instead. Everyone was so kind and compassionate to our situation and was very gentle with our dog. While waiting for payment and the extra services (they were able to send him out for cremation and had a clay paw print made) they reached out to make sure we were doing ok and they even sent a card with his printed paw print which is also nice to have. They never tried to rush us with payment. Picking up the ashes was easy and the receptionist Anita was also very kind and compassionate. All in all excellent service for end of live. Thank you ❤️🩹

absolutely not. this place is too expensive for it to be in a lower income area. Not only was it to expensive but the vet we got was terrible. He hurt my animal and not only that but he was not trying to help us in anyway. He did not act like he cared in the slightest for my pets issue. I was charged $200 for some medicine and for the weakest consult. Charged $200 just for the vet to tell us basically nothing. I do Not recommend this place at all. The vet was arrogant and was giving me sarcastic remarks due to my concerns about my pet. Now I understand certain circumstances however I was truly concerned and he brushed me off like as if my pet was just whatever. Anyway I don’t recommend.

I have take my dogs all the time here, but when is an emergency or a check up that it really need it cause one of my dogs is 12 years and is having serious healthy issues, they accept walk in but they tell you before that the check up will be up front $89 when this fare is regularly $45 and! on top of that any other service like XRAYS, Ultrasounds, etc, will be more that double make you a quick number between $350-500 bucks, all just because you don't have an appointment!, ridiculous and who pay the consequences are the poor animals in need of attention so I'll have to find another clinic that works not just about money but really care for our lovely fury friends.

This place is great for annual shots, very affordable. Not necessarily the cleanest or fastest- I'll often wait 30-45 minutes after the appt time to be seen. I haven't had much luck in problem solving with health issues. And, they once had me drive in just to weigh a dog and sell me more heartworm/flea and tick medication. The issue that finally tipped the scales is they say they accept walk-ins, but they DO NOT. In their waiting room, there is a s prominent sign that says they see animals in this order: "Emergencies, appointments, walk-ins". I called. I needed my dog to be seen soon- I was worried about a bruised leg and running nose, both which hasn't cleared up. The receptionist offered an appt in a week and a half. When I mentioned the walk-in option, she said they didn't do that, suggesting an Animal ER, and offered a number. When I brought up the sign, they said that's not really true. They don't do that. She then asked if I was sure I didn't want the ER number. Red flag. I hung up, called my previous vet. They asked a bunch of questions, and made an appt for the next morning and said she should be seen soon. Not an ER problem, but not one where we should be waiting over a week. I don't like the bait and switch tactics. For my annual shots, I'll just switch to PAWS (much cheaper). I'll change back to my previous vet for complicated or more urgent issues.

Big fan. Clean, thorough, attentive staff, and conscious of all budgets. I think I would pay double these prices on the Norf side. My Bella does need a new diet and the doc wrote a special prescription diet just for her. Plenty of parking in back.
