How to Save Money at Heartland Animal Hospital, P.C.
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I cannot say enough good things about this place! EVERYONE here is so warm and welcoming. Front desk staff and all vet techs are so friendly. All of the techs are very knowledgeable and helpful. And Dr. Hart is WONDERFUL. She is so caring and kind with both of our fur babies. She explains everything so thoroughly and will answer any question you have. We love taking our pets here because we know they are in excellent hands. Thanks to everyone at Heartland!

From our first "get acquainted" exam thru emergency care, routine nail clipping and vaccinations, our experiences with Dr. Hart and staff at heartland Animal Hospital have been great. Everyone has been helpful and friendly. There is good communication and most importantly, we feel our rescue cat is well cared for! Pups are equally welcomed!

The staff here is wonderful! I wish the same were true of Dr. Hart. It's difficult for any pet owner to watch their sweet furry friend deteriorate with age. My dog had a large tumor unbeknownst to me until an xray showed it. The doctor prepared me for end of life procedures and it wasn't until I was sobbing that she then mentioned surgical removal of his spleen (the location of the tumor). To say she should have LED with the remedy is a profound understatement. That was nearly 10yrs ago (my sweet dog is still enjoying his life). Unfortunately 10yrs did NOT improve Dr. Hart's bedside manner. From her condescending tone to her stiff and uncurteous words...I was told "his dental care is apparently unimportant "...my dog has NEVER allowed me to brush his teeth since he was a baby...he shakes his head furiously and it's simply impossible. But all of this is beside the point. There is a large difference between noting dental problems and using an ACCUSATORY tone against the pet owner! I am grateful to learn that a recent growth my dog has on his leg is simply a cyst of some sort and now, I'll be searching for a RESPECTFUL AND KIND Vet. Elsewhere.

Started going here about 4/5 months now for both my puppies; love the entire staff we have dealt with; you can tell they actually care for your pet like it's their own!

Horrible treatment and service. I made a call to have my injuried cat looked at and was told they didn't have any openings that day but could get him in the next day in the morning. I was A okay with that. I come in at the appointed time and was told "No we don't have you on the schedule plus, we can't have you as a patient till you fill out paperwork and you won't be able to come in for the day." Wth?? No mention or notice of appointment cancelation and I can't do the paperwork while he's getting checked?? They dismissed any question of why I couldnt get my cat checked up and what happened to my appointment.
