How to Save Money at All Valley Animal Care Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We had a scary potential accident with our dog last night so we took her in just to be sure she didn’t ingest anything she shouldn’t have. Starting with the secretary and her sweet fur baby they helped create a safe, peaceful, and understanding atmosphere; in which we needed as my daughter was crying a lot. Then the vet tech took our fur baby back and came back with the plan and the potential price all listed out step by step and I was so worried but I trust them to do what was needed. The vet and vet techs took care of her as they did blood tests and gas tests and whatever was needed; which all came back negative thank God. I know they took care of her in back and I’m so thankful. I will definitely keep coming back as needed hopefully not anytime soon. Thank you again for being there for my family in our time of need and taking care of Ginger girl. Ginger is tiny but has a big place in our family and we love her so much.

I first want to start by saying anytime you have to go to the ER with your animal, it’s always a scary experience. From the moment we walked in the door, to meeting our amazing Dr. Waite everyone was so people kind and compassionate towards us and our pup. Our pup had to get stitches on her face and we were struggling with what the right choice would be. The staff didn’t try to push us one way or another and really helped us way out the pros, and cons. Not only that, but they were also very reasonable with their prices ($530) and I didn’t feel like I was getting scammed at a moment of vulnerability. We came in last night around midnight and they let our girl stay until the morning when we could come get her, so we could get some sleep, and it was NO extra charge! They assured me that she would have a cozy area with a blanket for her to rest and heal until we picked her up. The last thing I will say is when we were leaving, our pup was still having a good time with the staff and seemed really happy so if that says anything , even after getting surgery on her face, she was still wanting to hang out. Hahaha

I had to make the hardest decision of my life and let my sweet angel dog cross over the rainbow bridge a week ago. The doctor's delivery of the news after discovering organ tumors was even though heartbreaking, it was done in the most gentle way possible. She went over every option available and helped us make the right decision. All of the staff were so kind, genuine, and caring throughout the entire process. You can tell what they do is more than just a job to them. We were able to take all of the time we needed to say goodbye without any rush, and they made the room comfortable. Later on, we received a card with handwritten notes from the staff that we greatly appreciate and set next to our precious girl's memorial items. Thank you for being there during such a tremendous loss.

They did an amazing job caring for Murphy! Murphy ended up needing surgery and was in the ICU for two days. They were consistent with updates and let me visit Murphy to spend time with him until he was ready to go home.

First time here. Monday morning and there wasn’t any wait. The staff were so sweet and communicative throughout the whole process. They were transparent about the prices before they did any procedures, and outlined all our options. Our pup felt loved and cared for, and thankfully can be treated outpatient!
