How to Save Money at Mirror Lake Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I was looking for a new vet. I had a couple of friends who highly recommended Mirror Lake Animal Hospital. I have only see Dr. Harper and she is great. She takes time to go over options and explain diagnosis and give feedback. She provides printouts to help explain aliments/causes/symptoms of pet, which is great as I cannot always remember what is discussed and sometimes we can discuss many different possibilities. She is very prompt in returning calls and following up with results. I like that they have an app called PetDesk that allows you to make appointments, so during off hours you can submit a request for an appointment with the Doctor or a Tech with an area to type out a brief note if need be. You will get either a confirmation of the appointment via text, or the office will contact you once they open for business to find a time that works for you and them. The app also allows you to input basic information about your pet that the office can sync to their files. This also reminds you of upcoming appointments so you can confirm the appointment. Also, something that is important to me is being seen on time, and so far the few visits I have had, I have not had to wait for any longer than 5 minutes to be seen, which is great !! If you are looking for a vet in the Villa Rica area, I would highly recommend you give them a call.

We used this vet in the past and they were amazing, seemed to really care, if we had an emergency they would always make sure our pets were taken care of. We moved vets due to know the veterinarian personally. Today our pet woke up and was in serious pain, we called this vet to get medical records sent to new vet, which they said they would do but right after our pet’s health turned for the worse and we thought he was dying, since this vet is a bit closer we called and my wife let her know that we believe our pet was dying, and with no empathy, we got I’ll have to leave a message for the doctor and we are all booked up. Needless to say Bailey did pass away before we could get to our vet. Our animal hospital was appalled as were we Do yourself a favor and find an animal hospital that has a bit more love for animals in an emergency.

I take my Frenchie here for everything. They are the friendliest, most thorough and caring vets I have encountered since we got our GRAND-DOGGY. I highly recommend them for all your pets medical needs.

Condescending and unprofessional, from the receptionist to the vet. Vet tech never even introduced herself, then started giving advice on which vaccines my kittens need. Booked a double appointment for two kittens and everyone treated us like they wanted to rush us through as fast as possible so they could go home. Thinking of filing a complaint with Ga Vet Board over letting vet tech essentially practice veterinary medicine. I wouldn’t take advice from a lab tech about which vaccines to give an infant either.
