How to Save Money at Hudson Bridge Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Great location and close to our home. Friendly staff and vets that I'm comfortable with. I had my one dog's teeth cleaned at my old vet, and they said there was no issues. Got the same dog's teeth cleaned here, and they fixed her issues with her teeth and removed the abscessed teeth (which my old vet never brought up to me) and provided actual X-rays to back it up - I feel like my doggos are finally getting the appropriate care for them.

I called due to a conflict in my schedule that conflicted with a previously scheduled appointment. I spoke to a representative about the issue, and she alluded to an unofficial waitlist of sorts that aids in scheduling patients. I gave feedback stating that a waitlist should be official practice policy and can be optimized. She, then, stated that they would discontinue the practice if people were going to be upset. That was very concerning. This is a healthcare facility, and instead of attempting to optimize a process that serves the patient populace, you what? Discontinue it because you received constructive criticism? I asked to speak to the Practice Manager, Cary or Kerry, (however her name is spelt because she chose not to provide that information). She told me that she would put a note in the system and that I should call back at 8AM on the day I was available so that they could work my pups in. Fine; I call back on 6/19 at 8 AM; the phones are busy and don’t have a hold option. It just goes to voicemail or you have to keep calling in. I finally get through at 8:23 AM only to discover that all the appointments are gone, and supposedly, there’s nothing they can do. I asked to speak to the Practice Manager once again, and she was abominable. On Juneteenth of all days, I experienced what many Black patrons have experienced over the centuries. She used words like “intimidate” and “harass” when I neither raised my voice nor was profane. I simply stated that their processes could be improved. She obfuscated/rudely interrupted by saying, “that’s how we do things,” which doesn’t inspire confidence when serving a patient population that cannot advocate for themselves. It is abhorrent that this Caucasian woman in a position of power has attempted to weaponize her words to malign a Black woman. It is disgusting, but not surprising. Her indignant reaction and condescension are indicative of the white fragility I perceived from her and her staff when I simply attempted to speak up for myself. It’s as if they’re saying, “you should know your place.” I won’t be silenced or bullied. I was told that this was a great practice, but based on my interactions, I urge you to avoid. I am going to take my Black dollars elsewhere, and I urge you to do the same. Southside Mobile Veterinary Services is awesome. Dr. Aboko-Cole is amazing and treats your pets with dignity and respect. I’ve been trying to avoid that travel fee, haha. However, I am willing to pay that extra money to be treated well and not like a second-class citizen.

My pets have been patients of Hudson Bridge Animal Hospital for over 10 years. You can tell the doctors and staff love animals and this isn't just a job for them. It is very comforting to know the entire staff cares about my fur babies as much as I do.

This is the kindest, most professional, clean vet clinic I've ever been in & I've been taking in babies to vets for over 39 years. Every staff member goes above & beyond. I've taken 3 dogs & a cat there & my babies are always treated with love & care. My vet is Dr. Stephanie Hill & she's amazing. I absolutely trust & love her. She's always treated my babies gently with love, care & respect. She's always treated my husband and I the same. I'll never go anywhere else. Much appreciation to all at Hudson Bridge Veterinary Clinic. You all simply rule. Uno, the one eyed doggie dynamo, is coming back to visit y'all soon!
