How to Save Money at Urgent Pet Care of Savannah
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
It's taken me a few weeks to write this review because 7-14-24 was one of the hardest times in my life. I really did lose my best friend that day. But i wanted to thank all the staff at urgent pet care. I'm sorry i didn't remember names but i was a wreck that day. It was all women and a woman veterinarian. Everyone so very polite and understanding in what i had to go through and I really thank God for leading me here that day. You all were truly a blessing for me during that dark time I had to face that day.

As much as it pains me to write this review due to us having to put our little Peanut down, I feel the need to thank the ladies that we had the pleasure to get assistance from: Dr. Goldberg and her tech, Abby. These 2 ladies were absolute sweethearts in the time of our deep despair. Our precious boy, Peanut, had to be put down suddenly due to a severe seizure. Dr. Goldberg expressed how it may have been a possible brain tumor but due to Peanut’s age (13 years old) it was in Peanut’s best interest to be sent to Heaven to be free of his pain. They handled our tears and sorrow with the upmost respect and even told us how Peanut was just the sweetest boy. To Dr. Goldberg, thank you so much for treating Peanut with love and respect. Thank you for being compassionate and comforting to us. Thank you for being a light when we were in such a dark place that afternoon. To Abby, thank you for keeping the room light even through Peanut’s passing. Thank you for going out your way to make a few gifts for us: ink and clay paw prints, which you did beautifully by the way. We could not have asked for Peanut to be put to rest in a better way. I thought I’d share some photos of our precious boy when he was in good health. I would like to remember him that way. And last but not least, to our Peanut, we will miss you forever and until we meet again, rest in heavenly peace buddy.

A heartfelt and sincere thank you to the staff and doctors of Urgent Pet Care of Savannah. They are very sincere, warm and friendly, and do their best to explain the procedures and costs. I was well informed prior to the operation and continued care of our cat with a UTI. At one point I became frustrated and worried and they were incredibly understanding and kind. For this I apologize deeply and we could not be more grateful to have brought our cat to this facility. If you are overwhelmed simply talk to them and they will understand. They are clearly very different from other places - a true and blessed couple of doctors.

We had a great experience! The facility is very clean and welcoming. Dr. Leblanc was very thorough, explained all of her exam, and guided us in choosing the best treatment plan. The staff really listened and didn’t minimize our concerns, even when they turned out to be a minor illness for our kitty. We won’t be taking our pets anywhere else for after hours care!
