How to Save Money at Berwick Animal Hospital LLC
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Hands down the best place you can take your fur babies. I can't express enough how much they truly love my dog and take the time to really hear our concerns, explain all treatment options, and follow up well beyond even the highest expectations. We've been there over 2 years and I just left an appointment in tears of utter gratitude for their kindness and expertise. I won't ever be taking my pups anywhere else, we'll worth the drive if you have one.

Dr. Douglas and her team (especially Claudia and Monica) are amazing! They're always friendly on the phone and try to get us in quickly whenever we have an issue with our cats or just need to do their yearly checkup. I can't recommend berwick animal hospital enough!

Berwick Animal Hospital is simply the best Vet I have ever taken a pet to. From my first phone call with Sue, to Bear’s first appointment, I have been so impressed. Not only is the facility clean, and runs well, but it is the best care any of my pets have ever received. While Dr Douglas and her staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and personable, they actually care deeply for each pet and build relationships with them, and you as a client. We had to bring our dog Bear in for an emergency appointment today. Claudia was fantastic and squeezed him in last minute c though they had a full schedule. Ryan had already established a great relationship with Bear, which helped Bear feel more comfortable being there, and me feel more comfortable leaving him. When I returned to the clinic later to pick him up, they escorted me into a room to wait for Dr. Douglas and there was a sign on the whiteboard that said, “we love bear”. They took such good care of him and did everything to put my mind at ease. Dr. Douglas knows her stuff forwards and backwards. She problem solves, is thorough, does not make you feel rushed when you have any questions, and communicates clearly so you can understand. They are a family clinic, and by that, I mean that they treat you and your pet like family. Truly grateful and will never go anywhere else. Thank you Dr Douglas and staff, Bear is much better, and my apologies for not shouting out everyone by name, but you all rock!

Berwick Animal Hospital hadn't been our usual vet, but we had an emergency and had to bring our 4 year old cat in when she was showing signs of severe distress. We came to find out her kidneys were failing and the entire day was a whirlwind. The wonderful staff at Berwick Animal Hospital were kind, empathetic and efficient in explaining the next steps while keeping our feelings and needs in mind. Things happened quickly and our little one wasn't suffering anymore. The staff took Indy's paw prints and made this special keepsake..something I will never forget. We ended up picking it up on her "Gotcha" day 4 years later. The entire experience was heartbreaking of course, but my husband and I were so grateful for the care our cat (AND ourselves) received during a confusing and painful time. Truly, thank you💙

Dr Douglas and staff are amazing. They took the best care of our little Yorkie Sophie. Everyone there is amazing, and I am so thankful that we found them when we moved here five years ago. The compassion that everyone there shows is fantastic. Even at the end when we had to say goodbye to our sweet baby they helped to make such an unpleasant situation, as bearable as it could be. Thank you Berwick Animal Hospital!! I will definitely be sending referrals your way!!❤️
