How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
These people are heartless and absurdly unprofessional. They nickel and dime me for expensive services that they never followed up with, and it cost my dog his life. These people truly disgust me, especially the woman that works the front desk. I ended up taking my dog to the emergency 24 hour clinic not long after and they informed me that any half decent vet or vet tech would’ve seen what was wrong immediately. That it should NEVER of been a life or death situation. That if they had just glanced at those expensive x-rays they took, it would’ve been clear what was wrong within seconds. That they should’ve called me immediately to say my dog needed surgery. But I never got a single callback from them. These people LITERALLY KILLED MY DOG through their incompetence and neglect. I cannot stress enough how much you should NEVER GO HERE. They care more about their precious schedule and going home on time than animals. (PS- I gave myself 7 months to calm down before writing this, so I could be as honest and unemotional as possible. That being said, DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, there is a reason why they are the only place with available appointment times).

I had this for 7 years for my pet and it worked well. Recently, however, the staff's attitudes towards the pets has not been lovely - all 4 locations I've visited in the past three years, tbh. I finally dropped them after a slight urgent matter and found an amazing group of people at Tritt Animal Hospital! Highly recommend them 💚

If I could rate 0 stars I would. This place is a dumpster fire. Absolute train wreck for customer service. I've been paying for their wellness plan for 10 years, and in December my dog had a soft tissue injury. We called this location (where we frequent) and they informed me they had no doctors on staff as they quit. I was told to take her to emergency vet which cost me an additional $1200 even though I'm paying them a monthly fee for membership. Why pay for something they can't provide. Next I needed medication filled and after a month of the pharmacy calling them we had to call again and were informed that we can't get the prescription filled unless she goes in for another visit even though my dog was just vaccinated and had all blood work done 2 month prior. The company is unwilling to reimburse any of the extra expenses or fill the prescriptio. Banfield has even chaged me 2 more additional month after cancelation due to not fullfilling their end of the terms. This is an absolute scam, the staff there are clearly inept and have no place working with animals, poor attitude towards animals, and just generally incapable of doing anything right. If you care about your pet this is the last place to take them.

I recently had to take my Maltese in for what I assumed was a tooth infection. I called in on Sunday- they worked me in with no hesitation. I did the “drop off option”…. And received a call to pick up. Turned out my baby was sicker than anyone imagined… and Dr. Eidbo was absolutely AMAZING! I was shocked… and stunned to say the least but they stayed open after hours and she even sat with me outside on the curb calmly addressing the path I had ahead of me. They called ahead to emergency vets and my baby lived to see another day due to their diagnostics , knowledge and quick thinking/ action. In addition- huge thanks to the 2 vet technicians Sarah and Barry who were so helpful, supportive and accommodating with a same day appointment request. I owe this hospital my dogs life! ❤️❤️❤️

Staff is incredible. Very patient and supportive of your pet. Took us ahead of appointment and had us done in under 30 minutes. The pet plan seems worth it, but the options can make it very pricey. Nice that it is inside of petstore. You can browse and shop while you wait.
