How to Save Money at Cedar Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
The staff was very friendly and understanding with my concerns for my pet. I was put in a room right away to insure my pet was calm. He loved it and relaxed right away. Buddy took to the Vet Techs and Veterinarian right away and behaved very well. They were kind and efficient, plus answered all my questions. I will be returning with my pet again. Thank you for top service. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon. ☺️

Dr. Kyle ALWAYS and the vet techs were awesome. What a well run practice and great group of caring people there at Cedar Animal Hospital; from the young lady who set my appointment to the young lady at the check out and also Nathan (for helping me get one of my older dogs back into my car). Cedar Animal Hospital is a true rare treasure in today's crazy world. I just recommended Dr. Kyle and Cedar Animal Hospital to someone yesterday.

Great service. I was able to bring my dog in right away when I realized she was overdue on her shots, and I had to take her to board the same day. I was a little concerned that I wasn't notified that she was due, as I always had been in the past. I was told it is done by email now. I hope that will work well since I have 3 dogs and they are on different schedules. I have been coming here for years and love Dr Kyle and Dr Heather!

I had arrangements set for the care of my dog for an upcoming trip. Those arrangements fell through 5 days before my vacation was to start. I called Cedar Animal Hospital hoping they would have an opening for boarding and thankfully they had one more spot available. My dog was well taken care of while he was there. I felt comfortable knowing he was in good hands while on vacation. I called to check in on him and they said he was doing wonderful. They included a free bath, nail clipping and ear cleaning. They offer a military discount which was a bonus. 10/10 recommend boarding your animal at Cedar Animal hospital. I will be returning for future trips. Thank you!

We love Cedar Animal Hospital and especially Dr Heather! We have an elderly Black Lab who has had a lot going on this year. In July she had to have a large ulcer surgically removed from her face. Heather took great care of her and her recovery went well. Last week, this same Lab had a stroke. She couldn’t get up. Her back legs were limp. We were devastated. 😢 We took her right in to Cedar thinking we were going to have to say goodbye. Dr Heather said she wanted to try to turn it around. Of course my husband and I said yes! She did!! Our dog is home with us again and doing well. If this wasn’t enough, our other dog, middle aged, ended up having surgery yesterday for a large hematoma on his left ear that developed quickly. This was all last minute to help relieve his discomfort. Dr Heather took him right in to do the surgery. He is also doing very well today! To say we’re grateful is an understatement. Our two dogs and our cat are a big part of our family. We are thankful to have them in our lives for as long as we can. Thank you Dr Heather Gill and Cedar staff!
