How to Save Money at Community Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff at Community Animal Clinic is very attentive and professional. You can tell that they care about each baby coming in and provide the best care possible. They quickly took in my kitty last minute and got her the care and attention she needed.

Always a great experience! We had an appointment for tomorrow (8/16) but our newest dog was throwing up for 3 days so we called to see if they could get her in a today (8/15) , they allowed us to come drop her off around 8am and they were quick to see her, get her X-rays and blood work done and then getting her anti vomit medicine and fluids. And all this for a dog they hadn't met yet, tomorrow would've been her first appointment, We had her back home resting by 2pm. Thankfully there were no major issues and she just has an upset stomach but we are so appreciative of their customer service and them being willing to see her at last minute and the level of care they gave her. We have another dog that is deaf and they were so good with him when we brought him in for a checkup and shots. So glad we picked them as our dogs vet (:

Took my sister's 12 week old great dane here for her after a paw injury so she could take her child to his art show. The staff had never met me or the dog & from the time we entered the door, I was greeted with compassion. I recently lost my spouse & my brother & am super sensitive to any negativity and lack of compassion. God led me to the right place because every single member of this team was absolutely the best. Before I left with my sister's happy pup....I ended up changing to this vet for my own 2 dogs from where my husband & I had been taking all our animals our whole marriage over 25 years. I can not wait for Sarah & Sargent to meet their new extended family. My babies are very timid but I am sure they will warm right up to these precious individuals. Thank you for having such compassion when you did not even know my own circumstances.

Let me tell you all about my experience here. My pet was seen by Dr.Tia and at first glance she was amazing with her. I spent $780 there. They told me my pet should be fine within 48hrs. No direct instructions on what to do after she came home except some meds. Less than 47 hours I called with the same concern and I was told the VET could see my pet but I had to PAY AGAIN for the same visit. I said to the front desk, but why when I literally just left here less than 48 hours and you all KNOW what y’all did don’t work and probably knew form the beginning it wasn’t going to work that’s why y’all didn’t give specific instructions after I picker her up. Re-examining her won’t change so why not just have me bring her in and don’t charge me for the SAME exam y’all just performed what’s going to be different? She could answer and well that was the end of it. When my pet left no one called to follow up on her health just gave me medications that didn’t work and took my money and that was it while my pet stated in pain and I’m clueless on what to do!

I came here because my dog was having irritation in his ear. To make things short, we arrived on a Sunday at around 4:20, around closing time. They treated my boy with respect and care. One of the employees had to be rough with him because he is a handful so I thank them for being fearless. Also, great customer service! They attended to us and took out my dogs ticks even after working hours! Thank God.
