How to Save Money at Good Dog Veterinary Care East Cobb
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am so thankful for the care that Good Dog Veterinary Care provided for my pup Nelson. This was my first visit after looking for a new veterinarian. The care team was very attentive and gentle with Nelson. They were also transparent with the cost prior to treatment. No unexpected fees and Nelson started to feel better soon after being treated. Lastly, I received a beautiful card from the care team with a photo that they took in the back. I am so pleased that Nelson looks at ease.. Thank you Good Dog Veterinary Care Team.

Hands down the best experience I’ve ever had! I was a client with my German shepherd and Dr Alvey was the best choice for her and us! Now we are clients with my Papillion puppy and once again: the best choice. This team has made any worry I had just go out the window with their care, knowledge and ultimate hearts. They truly do make a “good dog” difference. Was so glad they came to our side of town!! ❤️ Finny also says thank you for taking care of me during surgery and after! Cuddles for days

After visiting three different clinics in search of a place I could trust for my pup's care, I’m so glad I found Dr. Alvey at Good Dog. After being drained of money by one clinic and misled about a diagnosis at another, I was referred to Dr. Alvey by a friend, and can't believe I didn't switch sooner! Here's a detailed review of my first impressions: The Clinic: The clinic is conveniently located next to Starbucks—perfect for grabbing a post-appointment pup cup or latte! Inside, it’s chic, clean, and welcoming. The exam rooms are thoughtfully decorated with cozy furniture, creating a comfortable and homey atmosphere that immediately put both my pup and me at ease. It doesn’t feel like the typical sterile vet office, which made a big difference in how relaxed we both felt. Emilie, Vet Assistant: Emilie is by far the kindest, most patient, and most knowledgeable vet assistant I’ve encountered. After my frustrating experiences at other clinics, I had a lot of questions, and Emilie took the time to answer each one thoughtfully and thoroughly, explaining everything in a way I could understand. She’s clearly passionate about her work, and my pup seemed so comfortable with her, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. Dr. Alvey, The Vet: Dr. Alvey was just as compassionate and patient as Emilie. She took the time to listen to my concerns and answer all of my questions. I was especially impressed by how gentle she was when giving my pup his shots—he didn’t even flinch or make a sound! Overall Experience: The entire team at Good Dog Vet Clinic made my pup's annual visit a positive one. They not only administered his vaccines but also put together a couple options for treatment plans for his dental disease without being pushy. To top it off, they followed up with a personalized note and a cute polaroid from our first visit. Even though the clinic is over 30 minutes from my house, I’ll gladly make the drive for future appointments. I’m excited to have found such a trustworthy, caring team for my pup!
