How to Save Money at Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The doctors and techs were very respectful, sympathetic, sweet, and helpful. I appreciated them so much. My situation was very unexpected and confusing, but they helped me as much as they possibly could. On the other hand, 3 different receptionists I came in contact with were very rude. They had no sympathy and horrible attitudes. Some passive aggressive comments thrown in there as well. Doesn’t matter where you work, all businesses follow the same expectations for respect and professionalism. Keep in mind, I am a very honest but sugar-coating type of person. I have nothing to sugar-coat about them. Those 3 females should not be working at a pet hospital where most of the people they come in contact with are in emotional distress and nervous for their animal. The prices are a little crazy too, but it makes sense for being an emergency clinic so I get that. I hate that this was the case because other than that, I thought this place was really great.

While the nursing staff was nice the Dr was very standoffish and did not want to answer my questions. After leaving my cat there for 5 hours of observation which cost $$$$. I took him to our primary vet and they told me that the treatment they gave was unnecessary and it would have been better if they hadn't given him the meds and just sent him home for us to continue to observe. While I greatly appreciate that they are an emergency hospital that was open and able to do an exam I really wish they would have been more transparent with his test results and less pushy about spending so much of my hard earned money when it was completely unnecessary.

I would recommend this clinic 100 times over. Every employee there was not just professional, but also kind and caring. The front desk was very friendly and helpful, as were the vet techs in the back. The techs obviously know what they are doing and are very good at their jobs. They wasted no time treating my pet while showing the utmost kindness and compassion. Special thanks to Annabelle. Dr. Maseri was amazing! She took time to explain everything involved with my dog's treatment and was so kind. Not once did I question that my dog was in great hands. I felt comfortable and secure the whole time we were there. Everyone worked together so well! I have been to several ER Vet Clinics over the years and this was the best experience I've had. I truly hope Blue Pearl values the great employees they have at this clinic. Thank you for the wonderful care!!

Over the past several months we have spent thousands of dollars with Blue Pearl in Sandy Springs and Marietta. Still having problems, My wife and daughter took our pet to Marietta last week, hoping that they would give her the same meds they had been giving her thru IV as they had before. We were met with the rudest Vet who had apparently had a really bad day. She refused to treat without performing an MRI. We asked if we could get the IV meds as had helped before. She told my wife and daughter to leave and go to the Sandy Springs office. My wife asked if we could have our pet and the doctor told one of the techs to "GET THAT DOG"!! After driving to the Sandy Springs office we were informed that our pet could not be seen without a police escort and the Marietta Vet had called the police to meet them there. 3 police officers showed up and stated that no one had done anything illegal and they were not going to sit in a vet office for our pet to be seen. Sandy Springs refused service so we had to find another vet in the middle of the night. After us spending thousands of dollars with them, because of the poor attitude of this one DVM, we can no longer use Blue Pearl, got refused service from both locations near us, and HAD THE POLICE CALLED ON US!!! And yesterday......we get a bill for $190 for our trouble. If I could leave zero stars I would! I have emailed client relations twice now with no response. 9-25-23 The person who spoke with my family began the conversation with informing them that we cannot receive any services from any Blue Pearl location as a result of the incident detailed above. For whatever it's worth, the doctor who caused the situation was listed on the Blue Pearl site the night of the incident but when I posted this original review 2 weeks ago(3 days after the incident), her profile had been removed. We hope that Blue Pearl actually investigates all of this as everyone else involved at their locations were very apologetic. As it stands we have no resolution.

I took my beloved 14 year old dog Gus to be looked at because he was really having a hard time. Dr. Gee was wonderful, she gave me her findings pending the radiologist readings of Gus’s chest X-rays. We decided I would bring Gus home and try antibiotics to see if they helped but the radiologist read the x-rays quickly and we found out it was likely cancer. I could tell how much she regretted having to tell me the bad new so I returned with Gus a couple hours later and he went to sleep. I really appreciate the kindness and from the staff and from Dr. Gee. It was hard, but not letting Gus suffer was the obvious choice. Thank you for everything!
