How to Save Money at Animal Amour Veterinary Hospital & Pet Lodge

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Mila loves this veterinary! Her tail wags walking in to see her friends again. I am happy with the staff and the TLC they give my baby. They answer all my questions and assist me in any way they can. They treat you and your pets as family. Visit them and see for yourself and I know you won't be disappointed!

I recommend Animal Amour to anyone that is looking for a loving and caring vet. The entire staff is simply amazing. My dog was hours away from being euthanized due to her having something stuck in her colon that she had swallowed (later found out it was a piece of her collar). I had taken her to an Emergency Animal Hospital in Locust Grove where they only cared if I had $7K to pay for surgery. They could careless about saving my baby's life, they just wanted to know which form of payment I would like to use. When I told the doctor I couldn't afford to pay that amount, they basically told me to have her euthanized. The doctor went as far as to tell me Cocoa only had about 48 hours left to live before her intestines would rupture and we would wake up and find her dead. I took my fur baby back home to make her comfortable and to give the rest of the family time to say their goodbyes. I cried all night and got no sleep because I didn't want to wake up to what I was told was going to be the Inevitable; so I stayed up rubbing and watching her all night, praying for a miracle. Not having the heart or desire to end my Cocoa's life, I took her to another emergency clinic to get a second opinion and they referred us to Animal Amour. Long story short, Cocoa's guardian angels came in the form of Animal Amour. When they heard about our situation, they were more interested in how they could save my fur baby's life; they made it clear it wasn't about the money, it was about helping her to live and giving her the best quality of life they could help her get considering the danger she was in. The doctor did an examination and was very thorough and honest with us about the risk we were facing with surgery but she reassured us, she was going to be in good hands and they would do whatever it took to get our baby back to us ALIVE and well! The staff showed so much love and compassion and they seemed determined to help our fur baby live. That was 2 days ago and now my sweet baby is already getting back to her bubbly self. Doctor Garrett and the entire Animal Amour staff have been angels to us. Not only were they kind to us, but I observed how caring and the great customer service they gave to everyone that entered their facility. I wish I could find more human doctors with the same level of care and compassion Animal Amour has for the animals. I highly- highly.. Did I say HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone looking for a good and reasonable priced veterinarian family. They are worth the drive to Hampton, GA.

The clinic was very clean and fresh. The staff was awesome, friendly, and professional and they gave us their undivided attention the entire time. Doctor "G" and the nurse got down on the floor to give my baby special attention. They didn't just address me only, but my Bella as well and j was sold after that. Bella was so peaceful and comfortable with them, I was surprised with her calmness. This is the place for us. Usually, she is shaking and anxious, but not in this place. I appreciate how they treated my baby. Thank you all K.P.

I called the office and was met with a caring person not knowing who I was. When I got there the Veterinary team was very inviting. Unfortunately there was a emergency, even still they explained and was very professional that they couldn't see my puppy but assured that he could be seen the following day. Needless to say Dr. Pleasant is excellent in every way. The Techs are amazing too! I had a appointment with my regular Vet that Friday in which I called to cancel the appointment and to say I wouldn't be returning. I found my pups new Veterinary office. Thanks a million Animal Armour Veterinary Office.

People are nice but I don’t like that they take your dog to the back without you. You never see the Dr with your pet. It was like that years ago but they’ve changed so I changed to a more people friendly place where I can go in the room with my pet. Not to mention it’s kinda gloomy looking in there. Something has changed but nothing bad to say about any individuals.
