How to Save Money at For Pet's Sake
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I was scrambling to find a vet that would see my very sick rabbit on short notice. They were able to get her in the same day that I called. Unfortunately, it ended up being necessary to put her to sleep. Dr. Burchfield was so, so nice and explained every step of the process before she did anything. She gave us time in between each step to spend with my rabbit and mentally prepare for what was about to happen. She made this awful situation as easy as it could have been. She is extremely compassionate and a wonderful vet.

A better name for this place would be For Money's Sake. This avian and exotic veterinarian's sole purpose is to make money. I have a guinea pig who's almost 5. He was having issues with bloat and constipation. His usual veterinarian was not in so as a last resort I took him to For Pet's Sake. The fee was 150 and I didn't mind that. But, the treatments for him were going to be nearly 700 dollars. I knew that was ridiculous because his usual veterinarian has the same medicine, same treatments, and same equipment and charges 100 or less for all the same treatments. When I said no and that I would take him to his regular vet, the attitudes of the staff were very rude and cold. I feel badly that I even left my baby there in the first place. For Pet's Sake is the reason guinea pigs and other small animals are treated terribly and abused. Because of places like this one guinea pigs are left to die in pain and agony because people either can't or refuse to pay 100s of dollars for a cute rodent. If For Pet's Sake really cared about pets, especially small animals they would lower their prices so they could help small animals instead of hurting them. To all the animals activists out there, please band together to stop business like this from hurting and killing poor guinea pigs and other small animals. Together we can save our small animal friends one little one at a time.

My parrots nail was bleeding and I called many vet hospitals and they all said they didn’t treat parrots or that we had to make a appointment. I found this place and they immediately said I could come in and they were very nice and caring for my bird.

I brought my bearded dragon, Salsa, here for a wellness checkup. I’d been having such difficulties finding good reptile veterinarians around, and I was hopeful of the good reviews I saw here. Needless to say, the visit went fantastic! You can tell the folks here have a true passion for exotic animals, and are very knowledgeable and capable of answering questions to help put their client’s fears to rest (especially helpful for a first-time dragon owner like me). I highly recommend For Pet’s Sake for all exotic animal keepers. I plan to schedule a visit here for my yellow-belly slider sometime soon, as this is definetly gonna be vet of choice for my reptiles going forward. :)

I have been to a half dozen vets that treats exotic animals such as Parrots and Chinchillas, and they are definitely the best Vets when it comes to knowledge, care, and a very organized receptionist and records department. They will call you and remind you that your checkup is coming up and the Vet will call you a few days later asking how your pet is doing. Very thoughtful and caring.
