How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My little buddy McDuff was referred to Dr Hall , a vet cardiologist at Blue Pearl, with a high respiration rate and fluid around his heart. Dr Hall did an echo, diagnosed the problem, recommended medication and how to care for my 14 year old boy, he has been doing fine since being under Dr Halls care snd his last echo showed he was stable. The staff are wonderful , friendly , snd welcoming. I feel like the most important friend in my life is in good hands.

Once we got there the care was great. It’s one of the only places to go on a Sunday so the wait is long. They did get us in quicker than thought. Dr. Runnels spent a lot of time explaining our dog’s condition and gave us medications to treat him, also told us to follow up with our vet. He was the only vet there and he was working hard to get to all the animals in a timely manner.

This was my first time going to Blue Pearl. My dog started choking and was having seizure-like symptoms. I was able to partially clear her airway, but I could tell something was still lodged in her throat. We jumped into our car and headed towards our Vet but when my wife called to give them a "heads up" our Vet told us that they didn't have any doctors available (which was kind of odd for 2:00PM on a Thursday) but they recommended heading to Blue Pearl. As I drove, my wife called ahead and they were ready for us when we arrived. They immediately took our dog back. As we were filling out the paperwork the doctor brought our dog out and showed us a piece of bone that had been obstructing her airway. I was expected a pretty big bill but they were extremely reasonable! They didn't try and do expensive tests or unnecessary x-rays. They were way more reasonable than I would have thought since I was ready to pay almost anything. Definitely recommend this team for your emergency needs.

The African American Doctor (wish my husband had gotten her name,) was knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. She let us know immediately what was wrong with our dog and he received prompt and effective treatment. I wish I'd gotten her name so that I could thank her. She was wonderful.

We had to take our dog here because his Vet was booked solid and they recommended Blue Pearl. Our little buddy had diarrhea, loss of appetite, mini-seizures, and he had some confusion at times. Our dog was almost 18 years old. Anyway when we first arrived they informed us that the Vet was currently in surgery and we wouldn't actually see her for at least an hour and a half. We informed her of our concerns with our dog. She said she was going to take him in the back and start running test. Finally after about an hour the Vet comes in and said she suspects our little buddy has kidney disease and if his numbers are what she thinks, it would be a very very expensive process she wouldn't recommend. I asked if he was in pain and she said yes it's painful. She stated that she put her own dog through the process and regretted it. So I told asked her if it would be best to put him to sleep and she said yes. She then asked if she could run a urine test. We agreed to the test. I was confused because the other technician had our dog in the back already "running test". Anyway, about 30 minutes later the Vet comes in and informs us that his numbers are very high and it would be best to put him down. It was a hard pill to swallow but we agreed. The process was quick and she explained it would be. It was very painful for us. Her staff never gave us comfort on the way out! Very insensitive and cold! Never said anything to us. My husband paid our bill, which was a whooping $ 1300. However, when we initially filled out our paperwork, they asked if we were military so I told my hubby to go back and ask if they give military discounts, and they actually gave a 10% discount. What if I hadn't thought about the fact that they mentioned the military on their paperwork? My issue with this place is they ran alleged test that weren't necessary! The Vet knew what was wrong with our dog after hearing about his symptoms and asked to run the urine test, which was a separate cost from all of the other alleged test! I think this emergency Vet hospital takes advantage of their customers! I thought about those who honestly can't afford that kind of money! I give 2 stars because I loved the cremation package we purchased. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!
