How to Save Money at Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently had the privilege of entrusting the care of my beloved bulldog to Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic, and I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the exceptional veterinary care they provided. From the moment we walked into their clinic, it was evident that they were not just a regular vet clinic, but a true animal loving place that genuinely cared about the well-being of my furry family member. Another aspect that impressed me was the level of communication and follow-up care provided by clinic. They were always available to answer my questions, address my concerns, and provide guidance on how to best care for my bulldog at home. This level of support was invaluable and gave me peace of mind throughout the treatment process. Overall, my experience with Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic as my bulldog's vet clinic was nothing short of exceptional. Their professionalism, compassion, and dedication to the well-being of animals are truly commendable. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone in need of veterinary services, knowing that their beloved pets will receive the best possible care.

My furry kids are happy to be patients at Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic. In spite of long distance from our home to Clinic we choose it due to friend of mine recommendation and have never regretted. Dr. Chesanek and her team love our pets and do their best to help them. Very inviting atmosphere, attentive, caring and knowledgeable staff.

After an awful, traumatizing experience at another veterinarian with one of our dogs, I was nervous to take our beloved, older English Bulldog Lily to another vet in fears of what could happen. A friend recommend COL and in particular Dr. Chesanek to us and I am so happy they did! No more vet anxiety from my husband and I, and Lily is so much happier going to the vet than she was at the previous office we were going to. Dr. Chesanek And all of the staff have excellent bedside manner with both pets and humans and really take their time during visits to make us all feel comfortable. I also will say the prices are very fair and reasonable with top notch care. Thanks Chain of Lakes for restoring our faith in veterinarians again, we are so happy to be patients of yours!

I’ve been taking my 20 yr old cat to Chain of Lakes since 2019. The staff is always friendly, they have always been most accommodating, most understanding and truly respect and care about the animals and their owners comfort, mindset and situation. I’ve had a couple emergencies (even on a hurricane day) that the office has told me to bring her in and they took care of her immediately. They listen to me when I explain my cat’s past experiences or reactions along with the ailment we are there for and have always provided the right treatment when others had not. I trust them for any surgical and prescribed medicine needs. I tried finding a closer full-service veterinarian to my home but none compare. At Chain of Lakes she has always been comfortable. She responds well to all who see her and that is the number one concern for me - how comfortable and trusting she is while in the vet’s office.

While I've only been here once so far, I've already recommended this office to a friend. Here has been my experience since the first phone call for a new puppy appointment: the receptionist was friendly and helpful with happy energy, the texting correspondence is convenient and prompt, the use of technology to upload pertinent documents feels efficient and modern, the office is clean, I was seen right on time, and I was given as much time and attention as I needed (I was there for 40 minutes!) The vet- Dr. Taylor- and all technicians I met were wonderful and you could tell they sincerely love animals. I'm so happy I found this clinic!
