How to Save Money at Weston Road Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It was my first visit to the Weston Road Animal Hospital. I took my female budgie Maya because she was acting a bit strange. Not only was I accommodated on the same day, but the staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and professional! Maya was treated by Dr. Strauss. He was so gentle with her. In less than one hour I was highly educated on some of the budgie behaviors and their specific diet! Incredible! Thank you, Dr. Strauss and the entire Weston Road Animal Hospital family!

This was Rio’s first vet visit and it went great. The girls in the front desk are very helpful and super nice and I also loved Dr. Strauss. He was very knowledgeable and gave me lots of great tips for my baby cham!

I drove from Naples just to see Dr. Strauss. I’ve been to other avian vets, and he’s the best of the best! I trust him 100% with my pet budgie/parakeet (Mr. Vee). He’s extremely knowledgeable and has been his primary doctor for the past 3 years.

I just moved to Weston and needed a local vet. Decided to do a drop by to get a vibe and must say it was a very good decision. I took my Goofy Goober in for her shots and routine checkup and was really impressed with how attentive, friendly and caring the staff and Dr Strauss were. Very informative and thorough! They gave my Bella so many treats I think she gained 5 lb. I have been to a couple of different vets and got to admit that this visit was the best experience I have ever had. They all made her feel so welcomed and relaxed despite getting multiple shots... she didn't complain once. I even got to meet a very well behaved pet squirrel that they adopted and nurtured back to life after a near-death experience on my visit ... They won my dogs heart and my business. Also going to be bringing my other GSD here moving forward. Highly recommend!

What an amazing experience during a very scary time for my dog Remy and I. My dog hadn't been feeling well for a few days, and after seeing another vet who didn't leave me feeling reassured, I checked online and saw great reviews for Weston Road Animal Hospital. I am so happy I decided to come and trust Dr. Strauss and his team with my baby. Right off the bat when we entered, I noticed how beautiful the office is and Melissa greeted us with a huge, warm smile and she made us feel so comfortable. My dog is usually very reactive and nervous but Melissa gave her a treat and worked hard to earn her trust. Thank you for being so kind hearted. We were first seen by Raishan and let me tell you, she is going to be a WONDERFUL vet when she's done with school... she listened to every single concern and she repeated it all to make sure I felt heard and understood. Raishan was very delicate and comforting with Remy and did everything calmly to keep Remy's anxiety at ease. I have never in my life ever had a vet's office treat Remy the way this team has. Afterwards, Dr. Strauss came in and he THOROUGHLY examine Remy, had full control over her and explained everything he was doing. Dr. Strauss and his team will now be Remy's team for life, thank you for everything!!!
