How to Save Money at CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets - West Palm Beach
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Bolt was previously diagnosed with a Heart murmur at the Chewy Vet clinic & at a follow up at Banfield. The recommendation was that we take him to a Cardiologist. We googled a few and we decided to proceed with scheduling an appointment at CVCA as the reviews were amazing. The service that we received mirrored what we had read. The staff was amazing, polite, nice, personable, caring, informative, pleasant, professional, knowledgeable & ultimately made Bolt feel secure. Bolt is unfortunately horrified of going to the vet. It was nice not seeing him scared. Yes he was nervous and anxiety was setting in but he did really well there. Dr. Otero was extremely thorough, explained everything, answered our questions & made sure to close any gaps that we may have had. They performed an echocardiogram & Bolt did amazing. He barely moved. Bolt was ultimately diagnosed with a Heart Murmur grade 2. We have some follow up that we need to do. They mentioned to change up his diet. I came home and looked at different dog foods, I asked them for an email address to help me choose, and they called us back to discuss the options. The staff was just so awesome. We are really grateful. You always want the very best taking care of your kids & furbabies. Im glad we chose CVCA WPB! Thank you for everything!

Pricey, yes -- worth it, absolutely! My dogs are rescues and have been neglected so I make sure they get the treatment they deserve. CVCA is a truly great group of people. I feel as though my dog, Don Juan, is valued. From the moment we walk in we are greated warmly. There is even a little sign welcoming each patient! So sweet. I have not met a tech there that wasn't caring with my dog. He had his eyes removed, so he needs to be guided or carried in unfamiliar places. Dr. Rivera is kind and knowledgeable (and patient -- my dog is a wiggle worm and generally needs two techs to steady him.) Dr. Rivera prescribed meds six months ago and they are working to keep his heart from enlarging. His heart even got a little smaller and that was a win as far as I'm concerned. Also, he was prescribed a med for hypertention -- and that is working also as his blood pressure rate was perfect today! I highly recommend this practice. I added a photo of Don Juan below. He is sleeping on his trusty companion, Sasha Fierce. He was exhausted from our visit. Thank you CVCA!!

I have a senior Shepard/lab mix. During a walk he became disoriented and collapsed. We went to the ER and I was told he has a heart murmur and the hunt for a Good cardiologist started. I live VERY south of West Palm but after the reviews I decided to do the drive. Here is my experience with CVCA West Palm. **The building: is extremely nice and very very clean and well kept. **The staff: was very friendly and helpful. We had 2 visits and I had sooooo many questions (after my appointment) and they answered everything and did it happily. ** The doctor: Amazing...I saw a visiting doctor my first visit ( he was awesome and very informative) but Dr. Rivera called me the following day and went over the entire appt. He also called me to go over the heart monitoring jacket results himself....which made me feel he really cared about the care of Jackson. I AM VERY HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND THIS LOCATION. Thank you to all the wonderful people who treated Jackson. You guys are awesome.

Wonderful experience. Previous cardiologist was more expensive. They kept the dog 4 hours. New visit was 1 1/2 hrs here. I was allowed in with the dog. Not at other place. Vet spent plenty of time with me and explained in simple terms everything.

I had been searching for quality cardiac care for some time unsuccessfully . One can pay exorbitant prices - but that does not necessarily translate into quality care and access to recent advances and techniques. When my dog and I arrived we felt expected and were made professionally welcome by friendly staff . Dr Rivera was everything I had been hoping for in a caring well versed professional . He was extremely thorough and as a health professional I appreciated not being methodically line item pressured into testing or telemetry without justification for cost - a rampant behavior seen at even general practice vets today . This was a tactic not employed at CVCA - everything was patiently explained justified and presented as options . I left feeling optimistically confident about my dog's chance to live a normal life longer than I was previously led to believe . I was relieved to finally receive a professional evaluation . We are fortunate to have this facility , to have Dr Rivero. I could not be happier with our experience and look forward to my dog's continued care at CVCA .
