How to Save Money at Wesley Chapel Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Called about getting my pet a new appt. Lady was incredibly rude. Told me they weren't taking new patients and didn't offer to assist in anyway. Definitely not a place I want to take my pet!!!

First off I would like to recognize that they finally hired a new receptionist Cheyenne and she is wonderful. Unfortunately the other staff is quite dismissive, on our most recent Vet appt our kittens were diagnosed with Giardia and prescribed medicine. (Tuesday appt) That day we left with a tiny bottle supposed to measure 4.5 ml of medicine giving .2 ml every 12 hrs for two kittens for 5 days, when I received the bottle (small bottle on the left on picture with line marked where the medicine was filled to) I questioned if there was enough and the vet tech laughed and said it was a 10 ml bottle and there was enough, feeling like nothing would be done we left. On Friday morning there was no medicine in the bottle and we still needed it until Sunday morning. So my boyfriend called up and got a refill (tiny bottle in the middle of picture with line marked), Friday night I couldn’t hardly get anything out but managed after struggling for about 15 mins, Saturday morning same struggle and decided to call back and speak to Dr. Lucado myself, I told him the situation but felt very dismissed as he said this is what they always do with the bottles and syringes and I explained again with these bottles I could hardly get anything into the syringe and just to note it is not just a liquid medicine it is very grainy and sticks the the sides of these tiny bottles. I told him again I voiced my concern the very first time and he said the only thing they could do was prefilled syringes because he didn’t want me using the medicine for longer than prescribed dismissing what I was actually saying and in no way did I say I was doing that, I just very literally wanted enough medicine to give my kittens they needed and not have to call them up every two days. During the conversation and as I was speaking about coming to pick them up he hung up on me. After this situation I decided that we would look for a new vet as it not the first time we’ve had a bit of a negative experience with this place. The bottle on right is the medication I picked up today Saturday (also it was supposed to be prefilled syringes but we’ll let that go) and it clearly says 5ml of medicine in a very easy to use bottle unlike the other two, decide for yourselves from the picture but the one on the left definitely doesn’t look like it had that much medicine in it from the marked line. And if you have easier to use bottles for this type of medicine why are you making it difficult for your clients that have to actually give the medicine to their pets. I understand Dr. Lucado isn’t the one actually dispensing the medication and that is his vet tech Jennifer’s responsibility and if she did it correctly the first time not the third we would not be in this position. Also the syringe I received today was actually marked to the .2 ml line included in the picture because I guess I’m stupid? You need better staff plain and simple.

Awesome all the way around. They treat your pet as if it were their own. Friendly, patient and knowledgeable staff. Reasonable rates and even offer a low cost vaccination clinic day. I travel almost 40 minutes past many other veterinary offices to bring my pets here. Highly recommend.

May 2023 update: new receptionist was not very customer friendly, getting information out feels like asking for favors & seems like she’s doesn’t want to be there. July 2022: Fairly easy to schedule, friendly staff, nice nurse and doctor. We did have to wait for about 15 min to see the doctor and our dog didn’t seem to love the nail clipping but not sure they could do much about it. They gave him a treat though! And they were out of a combo medicine (worms & flees/ticks).

So glad we found this place! We are very pleased with the service and Hennessey actually likes to go. This was not the case where we’ve previously been. 75+ lbs and I’d have to carry him in. At this clinic everyone is friendly. You can tell they genuinely like animals and their jobs. The Wednesday walk-in clinic from 9-11 that is offered for shots, nail trim, etc…is wonderful. My dog has extreme allergies so this clinic has really helped to make it more affordable. Appointments are available and easy to schedule. Give them a try! I suspect you’ll be equally as pleased!
