How to Save Money at Pet Medical Center of Vero Beach
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Herman and his staff at Pet Medical Center are all absolutely amazing!! They always made me feel like my Mischka were in great hands and they genuinely care about their patients and it shows. Dr. Herman is extremely knowledgably and went out of his way to get for my little girl. They all truly care about animals and you can his staff all love their jobs working around animals and fell they treated my dog as their own. Their prices are very reasonable and know they are more about wanting to treat and help your pet than to make money. Thank you Dr. Herman and your great staff for your care and compassion for Vero and the pet community are very lucky to have your practice here in town. Do yourself and your pet a favor and establish Pet Medical Center as your veterinarian. Here is a photo of my puppy they took.

Pet Medical Center has taken care of all our furry family members since they opened in 1987. Dr. Hermann and his amazing staff are compassionate, extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. Over the many years they have provided the utmost care of our pets from well visits, emergencies, surgeries and end of life. In stressful emotionally difficult times they are calm, compassionate, and supportive. We love them and our pets love them! We recommend them highly.

We moved here 15 years ago and Dr. Herman has been our Vet from day 1 for all 3 of our dogs that we have had. Dr. Herman and the staff are very compassionate about the care of our pets and their need. I would soundly recommend Pet Medical Center and Dr. Herman and his staff to anybody that has pets and love them as we do. The other thing I like about Dr. Herman is he is a Giants fan!!!

I have had the privledge of being a client of Dr. Herman's since 2011. Dr. Herman and his staff are the kindest, most loving, sincere and professional Vets that I have ever met. They have helped me through the passing of my 14.5 year old Chocolate Labrador, River, and now care for my 8 month old Golden Retriever, Lillie. I would not take her anywhere but to Dr. Herman. I trust him explicitly. He is wise, not given to drama or overcharging for his services and has proven himself to me over and over. I trust him and know that he has my puppy's best interest at heart. All of his staff are kind and always make me feel like they care for my Lillie like I do. I could not recommend a better veteranarian or his practice if you want to go to someone who is personable, loves all his animal patients, and is wise in his practice with the credentials to back it. All thumbs up, always. Thank you Dr. Herman and staff for all that you do for me and my girl.

A gem of a VET for Vero Beach and Indian River County residents. Having an older mature dog and a younger dog. For over 2 decades we have enjoyed the stellar professional treatment and personal care. Exams, testing, surgery, bordering, and urgent questions have always been quickly addressed. The staff is always happy to make sure you and your pet(s) feel welcome.
