How to Save Money at A Pet's Friend Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
During our recent trip to Florida, we brought our baby boy cat here (ok he's 12 but still)... he suffers from megacolon, which basically means he gets constipated to the point of obstipation, despite all our efforts to prevent that from happening. He can be managed with laxatives but every so often, he needs a vet's help. After taking him somewhere else who suggested we put him down, we reached out to Dr. Walsh. They assured us that Diesel's case was not as bad as the other vet seemed to think. They took excellent care of him, changed his meds a bit to something more appropriate and easier to give him (powder vs sticky syringe in his mouth). Their office follows up every so often with us to check on him. He's a happy boy and has been regularly going to the bathroom, which makes us happy! We'd highly recommend A Pet's Friend because that's what they are, our pet's friend.

For 10 years my work has seen me often taking numerous animals to over 100 different clinics across 2 countries and without hesitation I can thoroughly recommend A Pet's Friend as one of the absolute best. If you live in the area, go there. Just do it. My 17 year old cat, Kazu, was looked after with the best care in a super clean, organized, efficient and loving environment. Being able to drop off in the morning before work and then pick up later on is *such* a convenience and the doctor does not pad the bill or over-medicate as he is a genuine cat (and dog!) lover. Go there. You will not regret it. You will love it.

Very kind and sweet the staff is at that office! My cat died in the am. I called this vet's office, and they said to bring him in, and they would take care of my cat. They also sent me a sympathy card, and I have never been to that office before.

I can not talk highly enough of A Pets Friend. We have been bringing my family’s dogs here since I was a little girl. Now that I’m grown up, Ive been bringing my dogs there always knowing that they are in the best care that I could wish for. My 13 year old lab Buddie fell ill right before Christmas this past year, and Dr. Walsh and Jaime did everything they could to get him in the best health so that he could come home and spend his last Christmas with me and my family. I got Buddie for Christmas when I was in fifth grade so it was important to me to spend one last Christmas with him. They made my wish come true and nursed him back to health and he spent his last Christmas with me. When it was time for Buddie to join doggy heaven, Dr. Walsh and Jaime were both with us for that incredibly hard time and held our hand and cried with us. I now bring both of our young Dalmatians to them knowing they are in the best care. If you are looking for a vet office that actually cares about your pets, and isn’t just hounding you for money this is the place to go. They are seriously the best, and I recommend them to anyone I talk to with pets!

We've been going to A Pet's Friend for over 33 years. Dr. Walsh is kind, compassionate, and our pet's love going there! He's fairly priced, and has always taken our pet's health to heart! He's been there in good times and in sad times too. I do agree that over the years, there have been some issues with the desk staff not representing the office as professionally as they should, but we have been very pleased with our overall experience with Dr. Walsh and couldn't imagine taking our furry family members anywhere else..
