How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital Tampa
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had need to schedule an appointment for my dog with a neurologist. A friend of mine recommended strongly Blue Pearl. The staff were awesome. Very nice bed manners and explained everything to me. The neurologist recommended an orthopedic doctor. They were able to squeeze us in so we didn’t need to come back. Thanks a lot!

I am incredibly grateful to Blue Pearl Pet Hospital for the exceptional care they provided to our 15-year-old cat, Nina. We were transferred from the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) after Nina was diagnosed with diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)—a severe and life-threatening condition. The veterinarians clearly explained the situation, emphasizing that while recovery was possible, DKA is serious, and not all cats can overcome it. Throughout the entire process, the doctors were kind, compassionate, and respectful of our emotions. Nina stayed hospitalized for five days, receiving the intensive care she needed. We received daily updates and were able to visit her at any time, which meant the world to us. Before any procedure, the team would call to explain why it was necessary, and after, they followed up with detailed updates on how it went and how Nina was doing. Their communication was outstanding, and we always felt informed and supported. Thanks to their quick action and excellent care, Nina is now back home and recovering well! We are continuing her treatment with internal medicine at Blue Pearl, where she is receiving ongoing support. She currently has an esophagic tube for feeding as we work on stabilizing her insulin needs and helping her regain strength. I highly recommend Blue Pearl Pet Hospital to anyone in need of specialized and compassionate veterinary care. Their dedication, expertise, and kindness made all the difference for us and for Nina.

I am highly impressed with this hospital staff, specifically with Dr. Bradley Harris and Ms. Akayla Bruno. My dog, Mignonne, suffers with a potentially life threatening heart murmur. I observed a very professional, spotless atmosphere as soon as we entered the facility. Everyone was congenial but hard at work. Dr. Harris and Ms. Bruno immediately put me at ease, and Mignonne was able to calm down for her examination, thanks to these two medical professionals. They saw to it that I understood everything. I am so thankful to them and I highly recommend Blue Pearl Hospital to everyone reading this observation.

I really appreciate the care we received with Dr. Braginton and team today. My sweet Velcro baby Siamese had been declining the past few months and today was the day. The team was compassionate and considerate with our situation and what our options were. We reviewed diagnostics and shared decision making which resulted in respectful care and a peaceful goodbye. My cat was special (aren’t they all) and I wanted to share with those who fell in love with him today how sweet and funny he was. (I am unable to upload the videos of him chasing his tail 😂) Thank you 💔♥️

We visited the Tampa location for our critical care cat. The staff and doctor's were so quick, caring and honest with their treatment and their plan for him for the future. While in the waiting room waiting for updates for him, we overheard several other pet parents getting updates on their fur babies as well. Their attention to detail and care for the pet parents was amazing. While we hated to have to be in the position to need to visit Blue Pearl, we can trust their judgment and care for him. Thank you. ❤️ now if blue pearl can get the same type of care to closer to us that would be amazing. Lol
